C63s Performance Seats vs Standard

Hello everyone,

I know this has been asked here before and I have read through all of the comments on those posts. However, it has been a while and I know people have had their cars for longer now.

1. So, for those of you who have had the performance seats for a while, how are you liking them? Do you ever sort of wish they were the standard sports seats. (cool factor aside because they do look BADASS)

2. For those of you with standard sports seats. Are you happy with them? Do you ever need the extra bolstering provided by the performance seats?

3. For someone like me, who obviously wants this car for its sportiness, which is the better all around option? This car will maybe see a track day once or twice a year. Will I be completely handicapped with regular sports seats? Will it be unsafe with regular sports seats?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Performance seats all the way!!!

I had an 09 c63 and the bolstering was way more aggressive than my 2016 w/performance seats.

They're a little firm on the tush, no doubt... but it is my daily driver and I've gotten used to it and am very happy with them

And yes, they do look "Totally Badass" (Cartman accent).

I love mine. My wife even loves them.
The bolsters are perfect for everyday and can pinch them a bit more when you going for a spirited drive. I had a loaner e class a few weeks ago and even with the "active" bolster ans mesages going I stilll misssed my seats

I have the sport seats and honestly they have been great. Bolstering is fine to me and is plenty comfortable. I've gone on a few spirited drives and they keep me planted just fine.

What is everyone's height and weight?

I'm 6ft 190 lbs slim/fit build with a little less cushion on my behind lol. I sat in the performance seats today for probably 30 minutes on a dealers lot and did have some butt pain. Could have just been my wallet causing the issue.

I am similar build. I am 5'11 and 175. Bony *** has always been a problem. I do take out my wallet on longer drives now. May be because of the seats or maybe cause I Carry more crap around these days haha.
Being slim my last car did not grab me enough. This one gets me just right when I move the bolsters in. And very comfortable when moved all the way out.

I had a few "experts" telling me that I wouldn't be happy with the performance seats on a daily basis, so I made a point to test both and really take the time to make every adjustment. I'm really glad that I spent the extra time. I am now at a point where I will be reluctant to buy a car without the performance seats.

I was ecstatic to see that the new W213 E63s will come with optional performance seats (and these seats will be both heated and vented ). I can't wait until this car has a comparable designo upholstery selection as the W205 (when that happens, I'll be the first to have my order in).

I found it took me a while to get used to the firmness of the performance seats coming from a BMW E90 M3. But really happy with them now. VERY supportive!

Everyone else who has sat in my seats loves them!

I am kind of the contrary here. I am a bigger guy at 6'2" and 240lbs. I opted for the standard seats because I think they will be a bit more comfortable as a daily driver for my build and I was not fan of the blinged out performance seat look as well as the cost. Time will tell if I am happy with my decision. It may impact resale as well.

I wanted performance, got standard because the car I wanted was the only one with the color and more important options within a 250 mile radius; so my dealer traded for it. At first I thought the seats were big but I was comparing them to my lambo, porsche, and gts which have sports car seats and very conforming and taut but really were never tested for long term drives. But as my C63S is my daily driver and I find myself on slightly longer trips and in stop and go traffic, these std seats are very comfortable yet firm enough for higher speed turns and aggressive driving. To me its a win either way so we are all fortunate in regards to such option(s).

I went with the standard seats and have to say that I prefer these over the performance seats because they are more comfortable and they have the heated seats option. I don't think you can get heated seats with the performance seats. Anyway, this is my daily driver and I do go on long trips now and then, so picking the standard seats was a no brainer to me.

Performance seats are heated but not cooled. Have them and no regrets, wouldn't mind standard but I was specifically looking for performance when I was shopping.

This is a great topic, as I have been going back and forth on this. My biggest disappointment with the new car is the seats in my '14 C63 were superior to many sports cars available. All my buddies who regularly track their cars were always envious of those seats and the superior support they provided.

The $2,500 upgrade AMG Performance front seats, look great, provide a bunch more support than the stock seat, make you feel more connected from the less cushion and superior support, but aren't quite as supportive as the W204 seats.

The "standard" seats are good daily driver seats, you can take advantage of the ventilated option if you want to throw down the $450 for it....which is nice for someone (like me!) who rarely ever runs A/C because I like the windows down....which can lead to a sweat soaked lower back on a hot day. BUT, you definitely do not feel as glued into it, and that is a great feeling while driving.

So, $2,500 for a seat not quite as supportive as the FREE W204 AMG seat, or get the stock seats and always wish you would have just spent the extra $45 per month in your payment for the Performance seat.....oh the decisions we/I face!

Performance seats do look cool. I have the standard (pre-built car) and the comfort is great over long distances.

I have the performance seats. I bought the car in Dallas and immediately drove it to Atlanta. Performance seats were fantastic even on a long haul drive home. Not to hijack this thread, but as people reply to this thread if anyone wants to through there 2 cents in on good leather conditioner to keep the side bolsters looking as good as possible versus cracking or showing premature wear. Again this is not a request for leather cleaner but rather for all of us with new seats who want to just treat the leather to keep it from aging.

sport seats in my car are the most comfortable seat I've ever sat in. Performance look amazing, but my *** wasn't comfortable in them. That and ventilated seats option living in Houston made it an easy decision for me.

This is far passed a normal conditioner

http://www.autogeek.net/le32ozkit.html

I try to do it every 3-4 months and keep it on 24 hours and more on a warm summer day or 36 hours on a cold day. This takes time but you really have to massage this stuff in.

It wont take wrinkles in the leather out but make sure more don't come

My last car was a 2012 E550 4matic with optional dynamic seats. My current car is a C63 S with standard sports seats.

Seats were the only big disapointment I had to face with my C63S. The offer nearly no support and I do not find a position, where I feel comfortable.

The Performance Seats on the other hand are 0,8cm higher and a lot stiffer. Therefore one does not cave in as much as in the standard seats so one is sitting noticeable higher than in the sports seats. This might be an issue for some, as headroom (expecially with a helmet) can be marginal.

Thanks for the info JMG. I didn't fit in the coupe with the regular seats and I was hoping to try one with the performance seats, but if they're higher then I won't even bother.

I am not really sure about the coupe, as I own a station wagon. So please make sure to sort out, if the sedan and station wagon facts about the seats can be applied to the coupe?

I guess (!) YES, but I am not 100% certain!
