Pure Turbos Stage 1 M177 Turbo Upgrade - dyno and slips
Saw some pretty exciting stuff coming from Pure Turbos. Stage 1 turbo upgrade (saw $2995 + core) making 634 WHP 608 WTQ on 93 octane with downpipes and a catback and ran 10.7 @ 131 MPH

I'm just about to get Eurocharged Stage 2 tune and down pipes.
I wonder if these turbos can be added to the stage 2 tune or if the tune will need to suit the turbos???
Down pipes are coming off so maybe a good time to swap out the turbos at the same time.

Considering you can take a stock car and get everything you need to run this for less then any of the others turbos alone I think it's very worth it. I would do it in a second if I didn't have to run downpipes with the upgraded setup

I'm running 644whp with Dime Turbos and pump gas. Trapped 159.8 in 1/2 mile but there is more to come. Way more.
Edit: By pump gas, I mean 91 oct.. not even 93. Crapifornia

If so that also incorporated many other mechanical/technical changes to support similar overall air flow without sacrificing response or lag and main reason BMW went that route is because of the problems (and supply issues) they were having with the N54's Japanese supplied twin turbos.
If your talking about single turbo aftermarket conversions on the N54 disregard the above

Also downpipes would be a must. If the turbos were being replaced, would the downpipe still have to be cut out? Or would the extra room of having the turbos out allow the downpipes to slip out.

My thoughts are that there will need to be a custom tune. Unless these are replicas of turbos that are already on the market for this platform.

Removing turbos does not make the downpipe install any easier. The DP's are v-banded at the turbo, so it's actually very easy to disconnect from the top. The problem is that you cannot snake the downpipes out without a) cutting them in half or b) dropping the transmission.
Oddly enough, a turbo swap looks to be much easier than installing downpipes on this platform.
