C63s Coupe Depreciation?!
Hi there border line of ordering a c63s coupe, although now that i have read that the new face lifted c class is coming I'm a bit hesitant of the drop in the coupes price, have they announced if the face lift will be in a coupe and AMG model? if so what would you say the depreciation will be on the current 17 coupe if that hits next year? they usually retail at 170k aud (yes f**king Rip off with government charges)

Who knows. There are many many factors that mean a car can hold value well or drop like a bomb.
Prices in the UK seem to be steady at the moment with a few second hand coupes coming on the market at not much less than discounted list. But we'll only really see an effect in a few years. If there are only a few sold in ANZ you may find it holds its value very well. If the price of fuel goes through the roof it will drop in value.
There will always be a new model, but I think we will see a special edition and maybe a LCI version in the next few years before a new, new model is released. From experience these dont have a massive impact on value until the cars 3-5 years old.
In truth, these cars dont make good investments and your only real chance will be an Ed 1 moth-balled for 25 years with less than 5K miles. Even then thats guess work.
One things for sure, it will drop less than a Lexus will and not hold its value as well as a Porsche. BUT it will put a massive smile on your face when you take it for a drive!

1) Cars are not a financial investment, you're straight up losing money. So why even fret with it?
2) Facelifts/model changes are going to happen in the lifetime of the vehicle, whether in 1 year or 4. So it really doesn't matter, it's money lost from the day you drive the car of the lot.

Agree with everything here and I'd add that there is no way the Coupe is getting a facelift for 2018... the first model year was 2017, so I think MY2019 (or later) facelift is more realistic.
The sedan will likely receive the facelift first since it was released several years before the Coupe.
The biggest visual change will probably be the new Panamericana front grill that is now the new face across all AMG's (it was never intended to be exclusive for the GTR and GTC).

I've always been the type to buy off-lease for luxury marques, primarily because I thought it was dumb to eat that first 2 years of guaranteed horrible depreciation.
I have a sh*t-eating grin every time I hit the Start button on my C63S. And I've forgotten all about my first statement.

if you ordered a ed1 coupe or sedan when it came out and sold it after 6 months or so you wouldn't take much of a hit.. but now you will. probably going to lose 20-30 k after taking delivery of a new one in the first 1-2 months and then it will stabilize. In Australia amg products cant meet demand and supply in the first 6 months usually..for example you can order a e63s now take delivery not lose much in the first few months and then once demand stabilizes take a massive hit.Same happened with the bmw m2 when it first came out.. prices are dropping back to normal now. having compared the big 3 germans amgs hold their value much better in Australia than M or RS. Buy a demo if you want to save some depreciation at the cost of satisfaction.. that's your calculation.

I don't think coupe face-lift will come out till 2019.
The sedan will get a face-lift next year (2018) which will then follow on to the coupe (2019).
Regardless, you're buying a depreciating asset... and if you're already questioning the depreciation it may not be the right path for you.

You need to weigh up whether or not you need the vehicle right away or not - if so then buy it now as even with the 4-6 month build and delivery time you'll still get it way before sometime in 2019, if not then wait for the facelifted model don't let depreciation dictate your decision they will ALL depreciate anyway.
The new facelifted vehicles will also receive the usual updates in engine, driveline, interior, features etc. which may be yet another factor/s for you to consider.

yah, wow, that seems crazy expensive. Frickin highway robbery if you ask me.
But hey, gotta do what you gotta do I suppose.
My c63s was waaaay less expensive, but the cost of living here in SoCal would certainly make some on this forum choke I'm sure.
