Dinan looking for a 4.0L turbo

talked to them earlier and they are looking for any 4.0L turbo variant to develop a tuner for that application as well. This one in particular might be the "warranted" variant. So if anyone in the bay area of Ca. is interested might want to hit them up

You have to deliver the car or have it shipped to Northern Cali at your own expense.

Definitely interested if they put out a tune as they also have matching factory warranty in the BMW world

Dinan warranty for Mercedes is not that same as BMW.
EMISSIONS: CARB EO submitted and approval is pending.
WARRANTY: DINANTRONICS Sport does not carry the factory matching warranty that Dinan is known for. DINANTRONICS Sport's warranty is a 1 year product only warranty that does not cover consequential damages or labor reimbursement. This is for 3.0 litre cars, 400,450,43 models.

they are saying this car is needed for development of a "FULLY WARRANTED" dinantronics tuner like the ones they have on the BMW side... NOT the sport which is currently on the market for MB 1.8,2.0 & 3.0 variants.

For all intents and purposes, the Dinan warranty is essential the same as the BMW warranty -- wherever the BMW warranty falls through because of the tune, Dinan will pick it up, zero questions asked. I know, I've been through the process.

And those notes that you stuck in there won't apply for a full fledged tune, which is what we're discussing here... that only applies to the stupid plug-in they have right now. That's why we're in the big-boy forum, not the 3L engine forum.

I'm scheduling to drop off my sedan with them in a week or so. Will document and report back with results. They'll be dyno'ing their tune vs. my current Rebellion piggyback tune as well, so should be interesting.

out of respect for all MB owners the plug in module that Dinan currently sells is anything but "stupid" . It actually works quite well for what it's designed to do and the barrier of entry to get into a quality product . Not to be disrespectful here, but effectively you are insulting Dinan as well , the simple fact is the "stupid" plug in module will sell far more volume than a full warranted tuner they will come with in my opinion due to the sheer volume of the vehicles produced for those applications that sport tuner is designed for . Not a "stupid" move in my opinion from a business standpoint . Just my 2 cents

I don't want a piggyback. I think they are stupid. I have spent too much money on a car to cheap out on a piggy back system. In today's day and age of multiple sensors manipulating fuel maps, a piggyback does not suffice.

It may work well for a piggyback and it might sell well. There are a lot of stupid things that sell well.

Given Dinan will warranty their piggyback tune for the M177.. it's something that few, if any, other tuners are willing to do, piggyback or bench flash.

I love this line in the warranty information, which I underlined:

Improper use or installation, use for racing, accident, abuse, unauthorized repairs or alterations voids this warranty.

What do they constitute as racing? Going to the track or exceeding a certain speed?

I think the only block that really applies is this:

TUNING (SOFTWARE) MOTOR REPLACEMENT POLICY

Eurocharged is so confident in our tuning offerings that we will warranty any motor against internal parts damage due to issues directly related to our software. Upon issue, we will require all parts be inspected by an approved dealer for analysis.

Products must be purchased directly through an authorized Eurocharged dealership in the US or Canada and not by a previous owner or 3rd party.

Coverage is for 2 years or 20,000 miles from the original in-service date.

Motor coverage is limited to $50,000.

Valid maintenance records will be required.

Problem parts including the ecu(s) may need to be shipped to Houston for diagnosis and repair. If the issue is deemed to be as a result of our tuning, we will reimburse for all shipping charges. If any parts are missing, we may deny the claim.

Warranty claim may be denied if determined that another tuner's software was installed on the vehicle at any given time.

Receipt required for Eurocharged software purchase.
Because the rest of the page refers to hardware products that EC offers.

That's great though. I know Rebellion doesn't, and I'm running it.

not exactly the same as the Dinan warranty which is 4yr/50K on a new vehicle purchase or 2yr unlimited mileage on a vehicle outside of factory warranty . This of of course is for the upper end Dinan stuff , good to see EC has a "warranty program" though to some degree
