My car on factory wheels and tyres does 46km/h when the speedo reads 50. Confirmed by GPS and the speed monitors on the roads here in NZ that tell you how fast you are going round schools etc. I heard it is pretty common for manufacturers to have the speedos reading slightly higher than the actual speed. I figure I can actually go a bigger diameter wheel and tyre and the speedo would become more accurate!

So if you go 1% higher car would drive 101km/h and it displays 100..so if your car is slower than it displays.. Sure no problem.

In the front would also be enough space for a 275 on 10 or 285..but that would be difficult with the front to rear ratio and esp

Wanted to confirm that the 255/35/R19 Front and 275/35/R19 Rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are a dream on the C63S AMG Sedan!

My dealer tried to dissuade me from doing the change, saying that it would be unsafe and that the tires would bubble in the middle and decrease my contact patch.

I had a highly rated local shop do the install + balance and the difference is massive over the stock tires. The car rides quieter and more comfortably and grips WAY better in the dry and wet.

No issues with rubbing, would highly recommend this setup to anyone interested!

Absolutely, I think part of it was going from run-flats to non run-flats, along with the larger tire.

I never used the harder suspension settings before but now find myself using them.

C63S doesn't come with run flats, just tire goo in the trunk when you puncture your Michelin PSS or Dunlop Sport Maxx RT's...

Not to take anything away from what you're saying, but I guarantee you that the increase in grip and decrease in road noise is almost entirely due to the fact your tires are new and not old and worn like the set you replaced.

Hey all,

Im up for new tyres again.

Can I get some feedback from those who are running Toyo R888's or the newer R888R's.

Ive run lots of different semi's on different cars, some really good and some noisy as hell.

They will be daily driven.

My main concern is road noise a drivability in the wet.

I'm I'm currently running 265/35/19 & 295/30/19.

As these will be my third set of tyres in one and a half years that have suffered from both camber and toe wear I think I'm going to fit K-Mac Camber kits to extend the life of my next set of tyres.

Feedback on the Toyo R888's & R888R's would be greatly appreciated.

Friend of mine got the R888R, forget it for a daily driver! After 3000miles you can change them..and they also hate rain.

just ordered the 255/35/19 for the fronts and 275/35/19 for the rear. Had Dunlops on before, now will have the BF Comp-2. Will post about road noise and grip. Currently I spin on launch, rear tires are at 10%, fronts are at 0%, road noise was bad even when I had good tread.

Current set lasted 15k miles.

i have had my r888rs in size 295/30-19 on for around 500 miles and have no visible to the eye change in tread depth hoping to get 5-7k out of them. road noise is increased with them but is not unbearable if i had a slighly louder exhaust or music playing they would be unhearable. in rain i cannot really comment other than i drove them once when it started raining quite hard for about 5 minutes before i got home they seemed stable going 35-45 almost seemed the same as if it was dry i could get on it a little without spinning but i wasnt trying to push my luck this was with just a wet road and no puddles have formed yet.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

As much as I wanted to run the R888Rs I ended up ordering the Michelin Pilot Super Sports to stay on the safe side and like my brake pads needed the tyres asap.

Im sure I'll be happy with these and I'm planning on getting K-Mac camber kits front and rear to extend the life of this set of tyres.

I'll have to do some write ups on my latest mods including the tyres and K-Mac camber kits once fitted.

So the PSS are still available?
I just read the new Car and Driver test on max summer tires and they tested the new pilot 4s which won the test.

K-Mac is known to create trash. I'd stay away.

I just swapped all my 4 tires to the new PS4S and they are amazing, compared to the PSS. I was also running R888 in the rear a couple of months back but I wasn't a big fan of their handling and road noise.

There is no one else that makes camber kits for our cars except K-Mac but a quick Google search should convince you to stay away from their products.

For premature tire wear, it has never been an issue for me since Michelin offers a very generous tread warranty. If you wear out your tires too quickly, you will get a prorated credit towards you the new ones. It's been a life saver for me.

Surely a tire manufactures warranty will not cover wearing from camber on a lowered car...

My personal experience since 2012 has been the opposite.

Guilty.... as you pointed out yes “K-MAC is the only company that manufactures front and rear Camber for all our cars” (plus Caster and extra Toe – every model W205 and virtually all other Models 1967 to 2017 front and rear).

Providing therefore for the first time the ability to change tire “contact angles” to compensate for other than showroom height conditions – high cambered roads, altering height through load carrying, lowering, fitting wide profile tires or curb knock damage etc.

Creating new products/ideas – history shows creates controversy. This is the price paid – but at K-MAC we consider this a whole lot better than sitting on the fence and doing nothing flawlessly.

But facts are there are other brands out there that take no risks/no painstaking development effort and is then a case of “thank you very much” and merely pay royalties to K-MAC to copy our designs!

In the case of our patented design strut tops, some have only copied and produced the K-MAC competition versions, whilst we manufacture in basic Stage One (Street), Stage Two (Street/Race) and Stage 3 (Full Race).

To then be comparing therefore a K-MAC Stage One kit to the strength of a Stage Three – all out competition version – is to say the least unfair.

We have the experience of being the longest established adjuster kit company and having in-house manufacture – not sourcing imports – allowing total control over quality– and rapid/ongoing product improvements.

This shows in all out 10/10th heavy V8 competition racing – the ultimate test of strength/durability and we do take pride in situations where Race Safety Scrutineers checking/evaluating brands rule K-MAC and only K-MAC adjustable suspension bushings are allowed to be fitted.

Have attached very latest Catalog. Also check out our EBay site re 100% customer satisfaction http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayI...ab=AllFeedback.

Hi guys,

is is there anything else other than the Tyres that could be causing my traction loss? It seems to be getting worse and I'm getting tyre spin on acceleration that's hardly more than the equivalent of a golf 1.6 power being put to the road.

im running PSS stock on the rear and they have 5000miles on.

could it be?

1) suspension issue?
2) would a flat spot on one of the Tyres cause it
3) something else wrong with the power distribution to each wheel?

im even to nervous to cross a busy road quickly because there is almost no traction

thanks for your advise

How about the tire pressure? Got also stock tires in the front? Could also be an issue with wrong track and camber settings
