c63 sedan tire questions

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of putting Pilot Sports 4s (front 255/Rear 275) on my c63 sedan. I'm not Familiar with the aspect ratio, should I go with 30 or stay with 35? and I'm running with the stock 19 cross spoke wheel. thanksss!

If you google tire calculator there are some good pages where they overlay different tire sizes and show you the % variance.

I just did this the other day and I believe with those minor increases in widths, it was closest by far to stay with the stock aspect ratios rather than the next one down.

You will be fine with a 255/275 setup on the stock sedan wheels.

Stick with the 35 aspect ratio. Difference to stock height of 245/265 size setup is negligible.

2016 C63
Hi guys, apologies I'm new to this site and just stumbled across this thread.

i recently purchased a 2016 C63 and am loving the car. The only problem I have is a massive traction loss in the rear on hard acceleration from pull off. Does the increased size in rear Tyres help with this or is there something else I can do to improve it?

i currently have pilot super sports on the rear.

Frastrating not being able to put down some decent power on pull off as it just spins. Going into 3rd I get decent traction again and that's when the real power kicks in.

Thanks

Wider tires will help a little bit. Also, going to a stickier compound tire or one with less tread will get you more grip. Beyond that, you really just have to learn how to restrain yourself as you're accelerating. You really have to be gradual in power delivery in the lower gears and then once you get to a certain RPM threshold you can finally floor it. It's not an easy thing.

Thanks for the feedback.

Im going to try the wider tires and see. Even if I accelerate from second gear it spins for quite a while before it changes to third and only then do I start getting traction ( can't believe mercedes dident make the c63 four wheel drive ) I also have a cla45 and that is amazing 0-100kmh. I actually think it will be quicker than the 63 because of the traction loss.

Thanks Milan, what size are you running in front? And what brand do you have on the rear in 285?

YES! it grips a lot more than it did before. I have already put 1k miles and no difference yet. Obviously if you have it on sport and floor it, traction will be lost but it's a lot better

I've read a lot of great things about the new Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. Almost every review says they have 99% of the drip grip and stability of the Michelin PSS but significantly better wet traction, hydroplaning resistance, and comfort/road noise. Not to mention they are noticeable cheaper than the Michelin tires (especially the new PS4). If your car is your daily driver, these are a no-brainer when compared to the Michelins.

More likely than not these will be the next set that goes on my car.

They are very good. Also very affordable because tires wear out in 15k miles

Only adjustment OEM on the rear (or front) is Toe/directional adjustment. No Camber to change tire contact angle.

We saw the need therefore to design, manufacture and reinstate from the early ‘90’s kits that provide “precise” adjustment (on car under load direct on alignment rack). Also replacing the 4 front and 4 rear highest wearing suspension bushings at the same time. Result is no more ongoing trips to dealers or alignment shops or constantly changing tire brands. Fixing it right…. the 1st time!

Precise adjustability for day to day commuting encountering high cambered roads, altered height through lowering, load carrying or suspension sag, fitting wide profile tires, curb knock damage.

Camber adjustment to reduce costly, premature edge tire wear, improve traction and track days – increase front Camber to reduce under steer allowing to go deeper into the corners with improved traction/braking response. Fine tune rear Camber also for maximum traction.

Front Caster to correctly resolve steering pull and improve brake and steering response.

The front bushings are 2 axis/self aligning but without the oil and air voids of OEM. Result is noticeably improved brake and steering response. No modifications to fit – come with instructions and extraction/insertion tubes.

Rear kits include additional Toe adjustment to compensate for the new Camber facility. Comes with bush extraction tool allowing the Camber bushes to be installed on vehicle.

Also manufactured for the rear suspension is a full set of 12 replacement bushings for the 6 multi link arms. Providing significant improvement to rear end stability. Less flex/twitch, increased traction especially when applying power lane changing/overtaking.

Have you tried lower tyre pressure like 32 psi ? Helps a bit.

I'm putting contisport 6, 275/35/19 on for a bit extra rubber, will see how that goes

265 35 front
285 35 rear

there is just a small gap and I think that extra 5mm will make it flush with the body panel.

Assume you must be running wider rims then? 10.5" at the rear ?
