To flic or not to flic my estate?

I'm interested in feedback on whether or not to put flics on my estate. I had read somewhere that the flics available from MB were specifically for the sedan (Coupe has their own ones as well). I wanted to try them on my estate, but also wanted carbon fiber to go with the skirts, mirrors, front etc. I found these really cheap on AliExpress so thought I would give them a go: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2014...737154732.html

The quality is really good. I wouldn't surprise me if this is where some of the US based carbon shops get theirs from

Problem is they are too tall for the rear vents of the estate (which is why MB state their's only fit the sedan)...so I filed off part of the back so they can fit. They attach with double sided 3M which came with them.

Back side by side - one filed down. The other original.

This is not what they were intended to look like, and now I am on the fence as to whether to attach them or not.

With flics

Left side with flic, right side standard.

To fit these flics properly I need to work out how to remove the black plastic in the vent. It looks like it would pop out but I have used a reasonable bit of force trying to lever it out and it wouldn't pop. I don't want to damage the paint work. Any tips?

Search over on the W205 c class subforum. Someone over there has done this and I think they sourced theirs from Aliexpress as well. He had a short write up posted that covered the removal of the faux vents and instal of the aftermarket flics.

they work with the side skirts, but I think no black accent skirt and no flics looks better. Makes the side of the car look taller and more masculine.

the rear flics remove some of the nice refined lines in that area, IMO.
