Engine Oil - 5W-40
Anyone here change their own oil? It looks like 5W-40 is recommended but it seems hard to find. I know some of the W204's were using 0W-40, has anyone tried that? And how many quarts does it take?

Just bought some on Amazon Prime for around $22. 5W40 was too hard to find.

No worries, my original post made no sense anyway since I completely missed the keyword "rebate". At any rate, whatever size the big jugs are, they are on sale at Wal-Mart for $22.88 w/ a $12 rebate (which is available from most retailers, but Wal-Mart seems to have the lowest sale price).

In Canada, the prices are almost double for Mobil 1!
Also, I noticed a lot of 5w-40 oil says "Diesel" on it. Not sure if that oil is suitable for the C63S. I wouldn't take the chance personally.
The most readily available 5w-40 is Castrol Edge (available from Costco and Walmart) but I've always been a Mobil 1 guy, so I'd prefer to get that instead.
I might bring a bunch of Mobil 1 cases back the next time I drive down to the States!

Quality oil is cheap insurance. I suspect most of us don't need to change our oil much more than annually. Why sweat ten or twenty bucks a year? Go with a 0W40 weight, whatever brand you buy.

Mobil 1 frequently goes on sale at Canadian Tire for ~$30/4L. It's currently on for $28.79.

Other posters were talking about 5w-40 (so I thought that was the only option), but I just read your message and double checked the owner's manual and 0w-40 is definitely the better option for our cars (especially with the colder climates)!
And they sell the 4.4L Mobil 1 European Formula jug at Wal-Mart which means I can grab it from there at any time!

I would never cheap out on engine oil (or any other maintenance item). In fact, I would definitely pay more money to get the best oil possible!

Castrol 0w40 "Made in Germany" is on a lesser sale at $35.
Went there with my buddy and he laughed at me for driving an AMG and trying to save $10.
