KW HAS Spring?

About to install KW HAS lowering springs...do I set the height of the springs before installing them or do I install and then adjust?

You can adjust them after they are installed.

I have not installed them yet, can't find anyone around where I live to do the work. I may have to break down and do it myself. Just have to find some time. PM Golan at Autotalent for pricing he will hook you up.

question for the owners; do any of your cars make a sound, from the spring/strut area, when going up/down driveways AT AN ANGLE (not square/head on) or when traversing over an undulation? the sound is hard to describe, something like a spring pop, or like a quick pinging sound.

thanks in advance,

Yep, mine are now annoying loud with about 2000km on them, I'm going to see what the suspension shop can do or look for an alternative.

Thank you for the reply and your honesty. Really wish I would have been told this prior to purchasing them. There are similar complaints on the BMW boards. Just doesn’t seem right. Yes, the car looks better, The adjustability is a nice feature, but if there’s a flaw in fitment then they really aren’t worth it to me. Especially if the the springs aren’t working as they should.

Where’s everyone else on this topic ?

thank you, Sanch. on my car it seems like it's specific to the left rear.......and i get some "funniness" when extreme left/right as if with turning the car in a tight radius.

I had a loud 'popping' sounds with a bit of rattling. Sounded like something was loose back there.

I did take it back to the shop and they cleaned inside the springs with a blower - There was dirt and stones stuck there between the springs.

I haven't had any noises so far ...it's pretty quiet actually and I've been over some pretty bumpy roads and angles

Getting my KW HAS installed shortly, I had KW HAS on my E63 and at low speed full lock turns I would get creaking and clicking sounds from the front drivers side suspension.

There is another topic about these squeaking noises when you lower W205 chassis ( i think in c300 section ). Someone in Germany found that it was inner spring rubber cover that needs to be lubed up. This is why I'm not lowering mine yet because I had this annoying squeaking noise on my older C300 with H&R springs.

Update. Had the installer lift the car and make sure that the suspension was in order. All we found was some pebbles and debris in the left unit. Kinda turned them back forth a bit. Re-measured at the threaded portion at the top of the units. That’s it.

Noise is no longer there, at least for the time being.

So i take back my earlier comments.

All is is well in regards to fhe springs making a sound.

Best,

I take it all back. The Noises have returned and can now hear it at both rear units depending on the slope of the driveway.

has anyone here ever measured their ride height (on a relatively flat surface) on a random basis? any changes in ride height?

i had the rear springs re-adjusted again......noise gone for the moment. my bet is that it returns once again.

Every time I start to kick around the idea of lowering I read stories like this and I’m reminded quickly why I don’t do it.

Me too. Exactly I think I'll stay stock with spacers.

It would be nice if a lot of this information was more widely known BEFORE purchasing the KW HAS kit. The alignment cost is a joke in itself as not much can even be done to remedy the negative camber in the front. Then there’s the issue of the noise the springs make from time to time, not just here but with BMW cars as well.

I have had the KW v3 coils on mt F80 and they had all sorts of sounds especially at full lock. I have also been in a M4 with the KW CS coils and they make noises as well... I think its just something to do with their springs and the stiffness
