Mercedes Buyback - Bad Idea?
In the process of hunting down a C63s sedan. There's a somewhat local (300 miles) example (link below) for a fair price. When I called to ask more about the vehicle, apparently it was a buyback via Mercedes from the original purchaser. This 'second-hand' dealership then picked it up (presumably from auction) and is now selling it. Apparently the reason was from a faulty battery. MB replaced the battery and now it works fine, still factory warrantied by Mercedes (according to this dealership).
My concern (other than being a buyback) is that why would MB buy back a $75k car when simply switching out the battery was the fix. I asked this question and a gentleman at the dealership said: "some people just know how to play the system and MB legally had to comply". I feel like there was a major issue with the electrical/wiring system, which would more than likely warrant a buyback. Perhaps even a lemon?
Is there a way to verify this via MB? Carfax? etc. Thanks!

Unfortunate, as it's basically my ideal spec (minus HUD). The search continues.

Buyback very different than pre owned, I would avoid. In my opinion, you will never know the full story of the buyback unless you hunt down the original owner and trust him/her. If it’s the price you like, would you rather get a buyback 80k car or save up for a couple more months and get a CPO?
