Taking delivery of a C63s--what to look for

What are some things to look for upon taking delivery from the dealer of a new C63s sedan? How many miles should I expect to see on the odometer for a custom-ordered vehicle?

From your prior experience, are there any questions I should ask, or features to have them walk me through before I drive it off the lot for the first time?

I always look over the body panels VERY carefully as if they put a small ding in it while on their lot you will have a hard time trying to convince them later that you did not do it.
The car is test driven at factory and after the PDI at dealer so it could have 10 miles on it.
Have them check and adjust the tire pressure while you are there, as they usually have WAY to much air in the tires and it rides like a truck. Use the figures on the back of the gas door.
Take a test drive before paying.
Pare your phone before you leave
Talk them into doing the 1875 mile differential lube change for free. And maybe a free oil change then also.
Get a clear bra (XPEL) on soon.
Enjoy the hell out of it.

What to look for

1. Body panel gaps and alignments, specifically the hood and nose.

Mine were off and the dealer told me it was not adjustable.

BS - all body panels, doors and the trunk can be adjusted.

I took it home, opened the hood to find 4-6 torx screws attaching the nose to the body, to then meet the hood. They are FULLY adjustable. I adjusted it myself and all is perfect now. Took all of 5 minutes.

2. If the ride seems stiff and the trans occasionally jerky, and/or you develop a squeak/rattle or 2 (even in comfort), run it in for about 1000 miles. Believe it or not, things do smooth out and quiet down after a short while driving. I had 2 rattles (front right dash corner and right door at rear). I fixed both myself with some black peel and stick felt at LOWES. Easy.

3. Resist the temptation to NOT observe the proper break in mileage procedures.

4. Watch the dealer service dept. They LOVE to keep these cars in their shop much longer than needed, claiming communication delays with AMG Germany, etc....
But I wonder about that.

5. Enjoy it. It puts a smile on my face every day, especially on cold start up with exhaust valves open (which I always drive). And, on my way to/from work, I notice people in traffic who are into cars "glancing over", but without wanting you to notice of course.

6. Ditto on the tire pressure. They over-inflate at the factory to prevent flat spots whole sitting on theirs, or the port's or dealer's lots. Follow the tire pressures on the gas cap for 2 people driving normal speeds, assuming you will be. DO NOT follow the door sill placard - which is crazy). Personally, I run mine about 30-32 PSI all around.

Having sold many C63s in the past, check the underside of the car especially the front lip, rear diffuser, and rims for damage, they often take a beating during transport. Follow the break in procedure, vary RPMs and avoid long distances at the same RPM. I always told my customers to keep it in comfort for the first 1000 miles so you aren't as tempted to floor it. The RACE start feature will not work until 1001 miles btw.

On arrival mileage, I have seen C63s as low as 7 miles and as high as 70 miles. The higher mileage ones are rare, but AMG does randomly pick vehicles for additional quality control and will put miles on them before shipping out.

Have your dealer do a full vehicle delivery and do not leave until they set you up for the AMG driving academy!

1. check for wind noise. Take a test drive in both passenger and driver seat. Mine had wind noise over 40 mph in driver side.. Dealer service said they order acoustic glass to deal with the wind noise problem.. Turn out they lie and refuse to fix it.
2. do not let the dealer clean your car and detail it. Mine had a few deep scratches
3. check every body panel and make sure everything fit that include the window trims. Found out after delivery that a few body panels including the door and hood are misalign & dealer refuse to fix it.
4. check to see if both headlights are align. both my headlights were terribly miss align
5. Make sure you get the dealer to do a full alignment
6. Make sure you do all of this before signing the papers! in my experience after I sign the papers, I had to really put up a fight for them to fix these annoying little things

I believe mine had 7.3 miles when I picked it up. A walk around showed all body panels fit properly and no marks of any kind. No rattles, squeaks, apparent defects or other annoying things but the tire pressure is at 44 all around after a six or seven blocks of driving and I will leave that and see how long it takes to naturally lower a couple of pounds. Wife did find a strange looking piece of whitish plastic, about as long as a flattened pencil under her seat looking for something she dropped. Also, FWIW, voice command for setting a destination address in Navigator is a true PIA and I have reverted to manual.

My car had the added option Carbon fiber package 2 and didn't have the rear diffuser in Carbon. I noticed on delivery and they didn't believe me at first. Still waiting for my diffuser after 2 months!
