Smile ECU Removal

I am planning on removing my ECU to send them to OE turning to get them bench flashed. I was wondering if anyone was able to remove the ECU successfully themselves. I am planning on removing it myself along with some of my friends. The location of the ECU is at such a bothersome place that I would want some tips or videos if anyone has already tried it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you guys know anything about this. Thank you

So this is what the factory says. I haven't had to do one personally, but I know local tuner guys that have called me to ask, and some say they ended up doing it without pulling the fan.

I'll attach both instructions, for me the fan removal isn't that bad, I've had to do that on the 205 before, so I'd probably pull it to avoid the risk of breaking things. Your call.

Follow instructions and pull the fan. Removal without is crazy hard and reinstall without pulling is next to impossible. Don't be fooled by shops staying all can be done without. They are right but they also have custom tools, lifts, and repetition and it is still very tough. If this is your first and only one, please remove the front bumper and fan. Seems like a lot but it's not. PM me for more help

I'd say a 6-7....I went ahead and removed the front bumper and fan....have access to lift which makes it much easier. Taking my time to not F anything up, took me about 2hrs.
Should have ECU back tomorrow, ready for more power!!

Agreed 6-7 with lift and if you remove front bumper and fan. The front bumper is 100% mechanical fastened. Meaning no clips To pop out. You remove all the screws and it come off. Very easy. The only clips are electrical connections. 7-8 if you don't have a lift

I have removed the ECU without removing anything else. My hands did not like me. I would not do it that way again, but it is possible.

I too removed it without taking anything else off and completely regretted it once I removed the bump and fan for reinstall.
