Here is what I received from MB Germany
I write in response to your recent email communication which was received at our office on the 20th August 2018.
It was with regret I learned of the issue with your Mercedes AMG GT R's radiator. From the information in your email we believe this issue to have been caused as a result of an external influence which means the repair will not be considered under our Manufacturer’s Warranty or goodwill, with this in mind we are declining your request for a refund for the repairs which you have recently had completed.
I do hope you can accept our apologies for any disappointment caused as a result of this decision.
Freundliche Grüße nach Berlin

what did you upgrade to? I'll give them a call, but looks like they're in AUS. I'm in the US. i'll keep y'all posted what they say.

Agree... absolutely asinine. i tried the whole "design flaw" talking point but obviously to no avail. smh

It's also a par-for-the-course arrogant response I'd expect from a German carmaker. The mid-engine Corvette's starting to look better to me every day. It won't have the slick interior of a Benz and it may have issues, but at least I won't have to deal with the German attitudes.

Hah, my c63 wagon is currently in Italy with same issues.
i noticed my cooling fan going nuts but no warnings.
checked the amg app and my transmission temp was off the charts.
1000€ fix. Yay...

Ugh bummer, sorry to hear that. Was it the infamous radiator puncture? If it makes you feel any better mine was $2200 (~€1900)

My repair was 850 € total(1000$), but it also included radiator covers and their istallation. Radiator price was around 350 Euro (420$) without mounting. Seems like you were overcharged a bit

I called MBUSA this morning and spoke to a rep. I then got a call back from an executive referral manager later on in the day to hear my complain. I stated that the damage is a common occurance on our vehicles and MBUSA should look at the issue and try to assist its customer. He then called the service manager at my dealership and got back to me with the advice to file it as an insurance claim and then let him know my deductable cost, which he can then try to get MBUSA to cover. I'm not satisfy with this recommendation as it does not cover much of the cost of the repair, but more importantly, it does not address the design issue, which, more then likely, could cause this damage to happen again in the future.
I recommend more owners with this issue reach out to MBUSA to get enough noise to get their attention to make them take more actions.
Here's the number: 1 (800) 367-6372, ext #8520 is one of Roman, the manager that I spoke with.

I just tried reaching Roman, but it said that rep is unavailable. So I spoke to another rep, who's gonna reach out to an Executive Manager, and I'm supposed to hear back in 24 hours. Hopefully I get some positive response like some of the others have...
In the meantime, I sent Dru from ARE Cooling an email per RDO247's suggestions, to hopefully mitigate this from happening again in the future...
That's the messed up part; they made a remedy to the situation, but ignored our cars in that remedy...

This is my second 2017 C63 S Edition 1 Coupe, and I already paid $1,747.37 in 2018 (when I had the first car) to replace the coolers due to road debris. Now I'm in the same hole AGAIN, and they're asking $2200 for replacement of the trans cooler due to a pinhole leak from road debris. I'm PISSED.

These factory coolers are extremely light and as a result are very weak.
My ARE Coolers are 99.9% in perfect condition with only a couple of folded fins after numerous monthly cruises.
Good luck and I hope you get your car sorted out soon.

So...initially Mercedes took down my complaint and refused to cover anything. Their official response was for me to go through my insurance company and have it covered as a claim. I found that unacceptable, so I railed into them on how this is the 2nd time this has happened to me, and it's a known weak design from the factory, hence why they've come out with the screens on the E63, S63 and GT class. And the fact that they've covered this damage before for other MB owners (based on the feedback from this forum). So after a week or so, they finally agreed to cover parts only ($639) - under the condition that I sign a legal Release of Liability! Anyone else have this happen to them?

decided to order some upgraded heat exchangers from ARE Cooling. took about 2 months. they are pricey but def worth the price. Dru really knows his stuff. these are good for up to 1000hp.

Quality of those cores are 100 times better then the factory ones.
From memory these will hold approximately 3-4 litres more coolant as well.
Post up some install pics if you can.

shipping took about 5 days. shipment was delayed in customs over the weekend because I needed to fill out some forms. Dru,the owner of AREcooling really knows his stuff guys. I spent 30 mins on the phone with him and was overloaded with information.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I'm about to bite off $1700 for my aux radiator replacement at 12,000 miles. Even more than I hate paying the bill, I hate the fact that there appears to be no system to monitor that fluid level.

Hey RDO247, do you have any specs on Dru's ARE Coolers? Eg what material they're made of, single or multipass, fin design and #, etc etc. Trying to compare them to these: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...e-cooling.html

If anyone's interested, I mistakenly ordered double the quantity of the cooler grille protectors (a mesh to protect the front mounted coolers) for my C63S. These mount onto the coolers, and do NOT require any modification or even removal of the coolers. Is as pictured here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...ml#post7466952.

The box is big (cuz the screen is big) so it's gonna cost $15-20 to ship easy. Asking $75 shipped within the US, which is basically wholesale cost without any taxes or shipping costs to you.
TIA!
