Diff upgrade
Who has upgraded their diff and what’s available? |
Out of curiosity, what are you looking to upgrade? Isn't the stock diff a clutch type LSD, and the S has a torque vectoring diff. And based on the power levels people are pushing, it doesn't sound like the diff is the weak link in the driveline.

No diff upgrades are available. Non-S’s (pre-2019 model year) get a mechanical diff while the S’s get an E-diff. I’ve only heard of a few people that have busted their diffs, but they were all on upgraded turbos making big power. Also, MB has a recall for the ESP software to lessen the drivetrain shock to the diff because some have snapped it at a mounting point in slick weather (wheel hop). |

I've been trying to find a different ratio for the rear diff as we only have a final drive ratio of 2.87 ....I think it's actually is slowing the car down in 1/4 mile performance and the AMG GT runs a final drive of 3.67 which would really make our cars considerably faster . I know ...what about wheel hop or traction ? Most modified high HP cars blow the tires off but thats the name of the game . I'm sure somewhere down the road some manufacture will offer a different ratio . Adding say the 3.67 would easily put you into the 10 second 1/4 mile range and possibly low 10's w/ a set of sticky tires and w/o a tune ....add a tune and exhaust Hello 9's

Do you know what setups others had that had diff issues (not related to the software fix)? I've always wondered what the power/torque limit is on the stock diff.

Two that I recall were making around 650whp and had drag radials on the rear. Running mid-10’s at around 131-133 mph. I think cutting a 1.5 60ft with drag radials on a sticky track may have had something to do with it. |
The final drive ratio on the Coupé is higher than the sedan/estate. That's how it's stated 0-100 time is 0.1 second faster than the sedan even thou it's heavier.
Have they changed the final drive on the 2019 now that it has the 9 speed? |
3 years later.......... are there any diff upgrade options for 205 c63s electronic diffs?

PTG sells a "built diff". Not sure if it is electronic for the S or mechanical for the non-S
|
We can build it. We use a Wavetrac differential and all brand new bearings and seals.
We also have the trick to remove the rear differential inoperative code on dash if you’re putting this in an S model. We can also supply different gear ratios for the car with ECU & TCU tuning no put the car in limp mode. We have successfully put up to 3.23:1 rear diff and as low as 2.65:1. |
2018 c63s Diff Upgrade?

The best (smoothest) replacement is the OEM Drexler diff. Funny thing is Drexler are German but have a facility in Moss Vale, NSW. Paid 6 grand including labour for Drexler. Final drive ratio unchanged. |

Hi mate, you've got a few options in oz. Second hand or upgrade to a Wavetrac or Drexler.
