Videos of AMG C63 S with ASR Exhaust Valves Modules

I bought these ASR valve modules from another member on the forum a few weeks back. Finally had a chance to take the car out and record what it sounds like over the weekend.

Love my ASR as well together with the software update! (If you have a 2016 like mine).

Should have been a car exhaust mode from factory

They were like this from the factory if you drove a press car
The cars that went to market were toned down and people noticed. I remember reading something in the AMG lounge about this. So AMG came out with the software update that added bangs and pops, but didn't fully open the valves at low revs. I suspect AMG built the exhaust to be louder but had to tone it back to meet some market standards/regulations. Otherwise, why build an exhaust like that and then not allow the valves to fully open?

It's interesting that the 2018+ cars didn't respond to the ASR module. You wonder if AMG made a more fundamental change to the exhaust design in response to the market regulations and those cars from factory have the valves 100% open but produce the same exhaust note as the pre 18 models with the exhaust valve not fully open???

The original test cars didn’t open the valves 100% all of the time (which the ASR does) otherwise there would be no point in a variable valve...it would just be open for Sport and closed for Comfort. With the ASR module, the car is notably louder when cruising or slowly trolling around...more than any factory AMG would be. It honestly drones slightly a bit on long highway trips, which can easily be cured by hitting the remote, but AMG would never allow this in stock form, either.

Other than price are there any pros to getting the ASR module over the Active Sound version Via Cate Automotive?

Or does it just come down to whether you want an additional remote or not? Easier install?

People with pre 2018 all seem to be getting good results with both options, so just wondering if there's anything major that might make you want to pull the trigger on one over the other.

Another video of the Cete Automotive product. It shows how to install near the end.
