Should have been a car exhaust mode from factory
The cars that went to market were toned down and people noticed. I remember reading something in the AMG lounge about this. So AMG came out with the software update that added bangs and pops, but didn't fully open the valves at low revs. I suspect AMG built the exhaust to be louder but had to tone it back to meet some market standards/regulations. Otherwise, why build an exhaust like that and then not allow the valves to fully open?
It's interesting that the 2018+ cars didn't respond to the ASR module. You wonder if AMG made a more fundamental change to the exhaust design in response to the market regulations and those cars from factory have the valves 100% open but produce the same exhaust note as the pre 18 models with the exhaust valve not fully open???

Or does it just come down to whether you want an additional remote or not? Easier install?
People with pre 2018 all seem to be getting good results with both options, so just wondering if there's anything major that might make you want to pull the trigger on one over the other.
