Yes, boost by gear is one of those must have JB4 features, it's compatible with the stock and all aftermarket flash maps.

A lot of stuff is in the works, but it's a competitive business and our competitors read these threads. Only makes sense for us to share stuff as we're ready to release it.

I've had my JB4 installed for a week. I've been running map 1 on 91 octane until today. BMS gave the OK to switch to test maps 2 and 3 on better fuel. I threw in 10 gallons of 100 octane on top of the 3-4 gallons of 91 left in my tank. I tested map 3 a few times but I couldn't get a decent log before it started to rain.

Map 3 feels pretty strong. I was getting a lot of wheelspin when the boost comes on in third gear. AFRs looked kinda lean but timing wasn't being pulled. It's hard to tell because the pulls I tried were short and TCS was pretty active, even in sport mode.

I might do some back to back pulls in "Mexico" this weekend. Ideally, I'd like to do 3rd-4th gear pulls in maps 0-3 with some cooldown between each pull, all on 100 octane so fuel quality won't be a limiting factor. Thing is I have the keys to a 991 GT3 for the next couple of weeks so that's kind of got my attention over the Benz.

Thanks for posting! Exciting info. Do you have a 63 or 63S?

You're making more power so car will be a bit louder.. But if you really want to open up the engine sound you'll want our upcoming C63 intake.

Perhaps put another way, the question would be something like:

Will the JB4 be able to control the exhaust flaps like I believe it does in the BMW world, and is being done by other people on the C63 via a module in the trunk?

or

Will the JB4 effect or optionally be able to effect the over-run popping that is inherent to the factory software, particularly cars on software with the "fix" that reintroduced the pops?

I think my overrun pops are slightly louder/sharper when letting off the gas after hard acceleration, especially when running maps 2 or 3. If there is a difference it's minor.

We don't have the exhaust flapper control built in yet, but it's something we'll be looking at in the future!

We do not change the injector timing so won't be able to make the exhaust popping better, or worse, depending on what side of the coin you fall on with that behavior.

Successful install here - took a bit of time to get to MAP sensor 1 (getting the factory sensor off was actually OK, it was getting the other sensor back in that was a little more tedious) once MAP sensor 1 was done, the others all seemed to be pretty easy/straight forward.

Currently running map 1 with boost reduced in 1st and 2nd gears as recommended and seems to help with getting off the line. Only had 1 'spirited' drive so far, so as time permits I'll try do a log and send in to confirm everything looks OK. Then hopefully onto maps 2 & 3 =)

Starting to get a lot of solid logs in. Hopefully, we start to see customer dragy and track times soon. The boost by gear settings to improve traction off the line are HUGE benefits!

No, we're still working on it. A few delays as per typical with something like this.

Slowly following instructions to get it in successfully the first time... approx 2hrs.
I think once comfortable with where connectors are placed and orientation of them, easily reduce that to 1 hr or less.

Car Mods:
Catless Downpipes
BMC Drop in filters
BOV (not that this makes any difference lol)
Tires:
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 on 305s (leaps better than the ps4s)

Tested the car on 1/4 mile PBIR on Thursday and 1/2 Mile on WannaGOFAST.

Map1 was not a noticeable gain of performance on the 1/4 mile. Car improved when Terry emailed me asking to dial Fuel Open Loop to 30. Still not much better than stock.

Map2 was a noticeable gain to the extent that I had to use boost by gear to improve my 60ft times. A max 3 on 1st was where I managed my fastest 60ft and 1/4 mile @ 11.557 / 120 mph. I was pretty satisfied with Map2 performance already and was able to log a couple of solid 11.6 11.5 passes on it. On the 1/2 mile it was also the best map where I managed the 150mph on the 1/2 trapping 121 on the 1/4.

I had access to race gas so I went up to map3. Unfortunately I didn’t see any improvement over Map2. I logged 3-4 runs and couldn’t see the point of map3. Terry helped me clear a code the car threw on Map3 by reducing the open loop to 20 but it didn’t yield any gain in performance.

I definitely believe there is still a lot of potential on this platform with Stage2 only. Just a little bit of tweaking and adjusting to each users setup will improve results a lot.

The only negative feedbacks I have of JB4 is that when the ECU throws an error code it doesn’t have a description to say, just the error number. Many other cheaper OBD2 platforms have the error code library and it would be easy to integrate that onto the JB4 app. Maybe on a future update?

Also, install was a *****, but that’s MBs fault lol.

I haven't done any timed comparisons yet but my findings have been that map 1 produces a noticeable gain in torque over stock. I can't tell much of a difference between maps 2 and 3 but the data logs show there's more boost and that the demands on the fuel system go up accordingly.

Map 1 delivers reliable power with low trims and good AFRs on California 91 octane. Maps 2 and 3 need better gas. I may just stick with map 1 and do downpipes + DCI.

Unless you have a flash tune, I would say that it's not a good idea to do downpipes. The JB4 doesn't prevent the check engine light that is going to result from downpipes.

Thanks for the data!

On the code reading we have to load it by model and the MB codes have not been loaded yet. But it's something we're working on. On the mapping we're always collecting data and will post updated firmware with stronger maps when ready. So keep the data coming in.

For those with race gas or E85 our BCM will also be very useful to achieve even higher boost levels than are possible with the base system. We'll roll that out once we have all the bases covered with the base JB4 C63 system.

Wondering the same thing myself. I bought the JB4 in December but the 10 degree weather and snow and lack of dynos and user feedback hasn’t really motivated me to install it yet.
