Introduction - I'm new here

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and new to Mercedes in general. Have owned BMWs and Audis and other brands, but never a Mercedes. My current ride is a '13 Audi RS5, which I still love a lot, but it's time for something new. Placed an order for a '19 C63 S Coupe. Done a ton of research and been locking for a while for what I want next. Audi has been disappointing me lately. The new RS models, especially the new RS5 are pretty meh and the C63 S seems to still offer what I'm looking for. Cars for me are mostly toys, but also need to offer some comfort and practicality for everyday use and in particular for road trips, but I don't have to commute. I don't have children, so a 2+2 GT high-performance coupe is my sweet spot. The C63 S appears to have that dual personality that I so love about my RS5. It can be a beast when you want it to be, but also a luxury coupe with enough comfort for more mundane driving.

I'm going to do European Delivery. Have done it with my RS5, and I'm originally from Europe (German part of Switzerland), so this is like going home. An AMG, like an RS begs to be driven the snot out of it on the German Autobahn, and the Nurburgring is obviously a mandatory destination. The delivery is planned for the week of May 6th, but I'm still awaiting confirmation and the exact date. I then plan to stay 8 weeks in total. Looking forward to the experience.

I'd appreciate any insight from you long term members on AMG and the cars. Anything to be aware of etc. Hoping to contribute a lot over time to the forum and get valuable information in return.

Couple of renders of my build. It's pretty much gonna be fully loaded with both the exterior carbon packages and the AMG Aerodynamics Package (not shown in the render), but standard brakes. The US site still doesn't have the configurator up, so this is from the German site, which for some reason doesn't have the Aero package.

And some pics of my current car. The first 5 are from my ED trip.

I am also a newbie, coming over from the M world. I also have a e63 wagon on order for a May 23rd European Delivery. Only spending a couple of weeks, enough to drive thru the Swiss mountains.

I made the same movement a year ago. Sold my RS5 to get the C63s. Same as you Audi dissapointed me with their new engines and the look of RS models, to me they all look the same...

You won´t regret at all I can tell you

Welcome

I'm making the same decision as well. About to order a 19 C63s. Curious though you have a May delivery date, is the wait that long or you specifically chose that date? I havent placed my order yet but looking to get it in early March right after winter.

I picked that date. In Germany and most of Europe you need at least M+S tires between November and Easter. It's mandatory. It can snow as late as April and not a good idea to be caught with summer performance tires, Also for March you are most likely too late now. Lead time is 5 months. I specifically wanted to take delivery after the winter and once the Mountain passes are open, even though I'm staying through early summer. With Audi, one can't even take delivery of any of their models that come with summer tires from the factory between November and April That's a moot point now, though, since Audi terminated their ED program altogether.

Think you'll find lots and lots of fellow converts here (including me). My first MB, too. Congrats. Man, that performance seat with the yellow accent has really grown on me and the five spoke with the polished band looks good, too. I thought it might be too much red caliper, but not in that view. Sorta wishing I'd ordered those now, but no regrets with my black-on-black performance seats and the multispoke wheels (they won't be on the car too long, anyway).

I wish I had the time to do an ED ... Nurburgring definitely on the bucket list. Of course, not sure how you really do that while the car's in break-in.

Thanks. Yeah, the yellow/black seats made me get full leather again. After having the leather/alcantara seats in my RS5, I swore never to get full leather seats again, but here I am ;). At least now I can get seat ventilation and with the adjustable bolsters the seats hold me in place properly during aggressive cornering. The wheels have grown on me, too. Wasn't a fan at first, but they do look good. They are more concave than the other wheels and with black on black, having the silver band gives it a nice touch. I wish the calipers would be available in the same yellow as the seats, but the red works for me, too. Blends in with the tail lights. Better than the CCBs with a different shade of yellow, IMO.

You can take it easy on the Nurburgring. There are people that drive it in their minivans ;). It's technically part of the Autobahn network and officially classified as a public one-way toll road with restricted hours. But yes, if you wanna drive it properly then you have to stay long enough the break-in the car first. Not gonna be an issue for me. I stayed 4 weeks with my RS5 and it was broken in after the first week. Had 4000 miles on the clock at the end of the trip. This time I'm guessing I'll be doing something like 8000 miles in total.
