PS - I am in the California Bay Area (San Francisco / San Jose / Silicon Valley) so there are loads of people with money to burn out here so it wouldn't surprise me if some person just wandered in and bought it because they were bored.

I don't think the custom order will give you any leverage, if anything it will be the opposite. When I ordered mine the guy said "We'd never order one like this..."
) who want this car ASAP, get out of the way...you may find one on the lot that is close to your desired config and they might be more willing to work with you on price.Good luck and I hope you're able to get what you want!

I was was able to cut a 4%+ discount on a coupe but I’m in Dallas with 6 dealers. Even then three of them wouldn’t talk anything but MSRP and $5k deposit. I got the other three in a bid war for over a month to get to that number, scratching out a quarter of a % at a time. Outside of ED, that’s about as good as you’ll get I think.
And a custom build, especially one absent the distronic driver/parking assist packages, will offer you no leverage whatsoever, because it won’t be as sellable to them if you back out.
For those who are interested, the 2019 AMG C63S Coupe pricing details are as follows:
MSRP: $76,450
Invoice: $71,481
Dealer margin: $3,974 / 5%
Will post an update with a picture of the new car once I get it in a week or so.

getting a deal will be difficult. It’s a facelift year with some very attractive updates to the model. The demand is high, it’s very early in the model year (just officially launched in the US two weeks ago), and the initial allocations limited. I think you’re going to have to be in a big market with lots of dealers to compete for your business. Or, if in a smaller market, you may have to reach out to dealers outside your area.

To clarify, I'm not a dealer. I just have a hookup with one who treats me and anyone I send to him very well, being that we've done a large amount of business over the past few years.

Feel free to PM me if you're serious/ready to buy and hopefully I can help you get the best deal possible.
