2019 AMG C63S Coupe Price

Hello - I'm headed to the dealer to buy a new 2019 AMG C63S Coupe in about a week. I am being told that they sell these at sticker price because there is such a high demand for them, however I can clearly see there is about a $4000 profit the dealer makes between the invoice value and the MSRP. My question is has anyone been able to negotiate a dealer down below MSRP on a new AMG? If so, what tactic did you use? Curious about any negotiating tips anyone might have out there.

Thanks in advance!

I was able to get 2K off MSRP because of a membership to a local group that works with the dealer. Even then it was a little tough because I've got only 2 dealerships in my area and my car is an order.

Are you a member of a group that has some sort of auto purchase program?

Unfortunately not. I am just your average Joe buyer. I did custom order the AMG through their custom building tool through the dealership, so it's 100% suited to what I want versus something generic they would think everyone on the market wants. So I would think from that perspective I might have a little leverage in that other buyers may not want the custom specifications I made to the car, but I could be dead wrong about that.

PS - I am in the California Bay Area (San Francisco / San Jose / Silicon Valley) so there are loads of people with money to burn out here so it wouldn't surprise me if some person just wandered in and bought it because they were bored.

Your ability to deal is going to be based on how easy they move inventory and how many dealers you have in your area. If they know they'll lose you to another dealer easily they may deal a little more but if they move all of their inventory easily then it will be harder.

I don't think the custom order will give you any leverage, if anything it will be the opposite. When I ordered mine the guy said "We'd never order one like this..."

I suppose the reality is there's hardly any leverage for either myself or the dealer in this situation. Neither one of us is getting a great deal because the margin is so thin from the manufacturer. I guess it's ultimately not that big of a deal. They're never going to come down to floor and I doubt they'd want to leave any margin on the table from the little they'll get anyway.

The other thing to remember is that these cars are brand spanking new and they know you really want it. If you would be willing to wait until the rush of idiots (myself included here ) who want this car ASAP, get out of the way...you may find one on the lot that is close to your desired config and they might be more willing to work with you on price.

Good luck and I hope you're able to get what you want!

The C63/S is the best selling AMG and they knocked it out of the park with the 2019 IMO. I think they are getting a bunch of customers coming over from Audi and BMW like me, that are disappointed about the lack of character these other cars offer. I'm currently driving a '13 Audi RS5 and I ordered a C63 S Coupe, because the new RS5 is just too meh. I'm in the SF Bay Area, too, but I'm doing European Delivery, so I'm getting the standard 5% off, which is almost $5k for my specific build. I would not be surprised if dealers are not willing to discount at this time.

Yes, I can almost always beat the European Delivery discount on pretty much any Benz, AMG included. Inventory or special order/custom build. Happy to help anyone here with such a deal if they're interested.

getting a deal will be difficult. It’s a facelift year with some very attractive updates to the model. The demand is high, it’s very early in the model year (just officially launched in the US two weeks ago), and the initial allocations limited. I think you’re going to have to be in a big market with lots of dealers to compete for your business. Or, if in a smaller market, you may have to reach out to dealers outside your area.

I was was able to cut a 4%+ discount on a coupe but I’m in Dallas with 6 dealers. Even then three of them wouldn’t talk anything but MSRP and $5k deposit. I got the other three in a bid war for over a month to get to that number, scratching out a quarter of a % at a time. Outside of ED, that’s about as good as you’ll get I think.

And a custom build, especially one absent the distronic driver/parking assist packages, will offer you no leverage whatsoever, because it won’t be as sellable to them if you back out.

Thanks all for the replies. I was able to negotiate the dealer down 2% from MSRP which was exactly where I wanted to be.

For those who are interested, the 2019 AMG C63S Coupe pricing details are as follows:

MSRP: $76,450
Invoice: $71,481
Dealer margin: $3,974 / 5%

Will post an update with a picture of the new car once I get it in a week or so.

I just was able to quote a fellow forum member a deal with over double that discount on a 2019 C63 Cabrio. Lets see if the deal goes through (I believe paperwork is going over to be signed and finalize the order today), and then I'll update ya.

To clarify, I'm not a dealer. I just have a hookup with one who treats me and anyone I send to him very well, being that we've done a large amount of business over the past few years.
