I noticed previously it was mentioned to remove the tune when taking the car in for service. Is this actually enough? I'm interested, but what's the benefit to this over the Dinan piggyback, besides ease of installation? These engines are 71k to replace if anything happens, Dinan has a warranty.

Just to clarify we recommend to program the vehicle back to stock so if the dealer upgrades your software the device (our handheld personal tuner) will allow you to read from the car without having to reset it. Basically if the vehicle is upgraded when the ECU is modified we will have to reset the handheld in order to be able to read again. Regarding tuning preferences when possible we prefer the concept of a proper read, edit, and write ecu tune so that you are not manipulating anything and all factory safety parameters stay intact. This is what we offer across the board for all vehicles that we tune. No knock on Dinan or any other brand just different methods but now that we do not have to remove ECU's we believe the technology makes this available to most AMG owners.

With all due respect it was my answer to the misunderstanding of the request to program the vehicle back to stock. Regarding the warranty I believe Dinan as they have for over 10 years agree to match the balance of any existing factory warranty if you can prove the Dinan product caused damage to the vehicle. This has been the norm since before they were acquired and only dealt with BMW. In some cases a piggy back solution is a good option as in this case it may be for you. We offer an ECU remapping solution as mentioned before which is the same as most other "tuners" worldwide however the piggy back solutions do exist.. usually early in the life of the vehicle where there is no other solution ie the Urus.
