I have had the Dinan tune for the last couple thousand miles. Absolutely no issues to report and the car has behaved just like stock but with a significant amount of added torque. If JB4 had been out when I was shopping for a tune I may have gone that route. I like the added features of the JB4 and I may still pull the trigger on it and sell the Dinan. I am just waiting to hear some more real-world results and reviews. The lack of information from users has surprised me a little bit.

It's certainly expensive but the hardware is very high quality and the warranty offered by Dinan adds value. If you shop around you can also find it for less than advertised in most cases. Also, I am used to paying for parts for Porsche vehicles, so my idea on pricing is possibly skewed.

You pay extra because of the warranty... If others had a matching 4 yr/50k mile warranty their price would be a lot higher too.. I have seen Dinan pay to replace an engine in an m5. That's over 12k right there.

Warranty and also R&D is what you're paying for... Dinan was the first real company to produce a quality safe piggyback for this platform and they did a ton of R&D... Give credit where credit is due.

I remember hearing that the replacement cost for the AMG engine was $75K. I have never tried to verify this and I hope I never have to find out.

I too wonder why we are not seeing any JB4 numbers ..... kind of strange but leads one to believe it may not be making the power of the others just yet and we haven't seen any S models

Back in 2009 or so I put a JB-3 on the 335i that I had back then. I later upgraded it to the JB-4 when it came out a couple years later. Never had any issue with the tune and Terry Burger at BMS was a really great guy to deal with. Answered any question I ever had directly through email right away, even at 7pm one night when I was playing with something...forget what though. He also has a cult like following on the e90 and his own forums.
Never tried Dinan but read a lot of good things about them.
I’m waiting to see what BMS releases before I get anything.
i did like all the features the JB-4 had even 8 years ago when it first came out and they’ve added a lot since I had it. Especially the on the fly map changes with the speedo and tach.
