First 9 second 1/4 Mile Pass, 9.97 at 140 mph Edition 1 Coupe
I ran my car at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green Kentucky last weekend. The track was not prepped for street cars because they were doing bracket racing with a big payout and just needed consistency so traction was an issue, but I will try again on a better prepped surface in a couple weeks and hopefully get deeper into the 9s.
Quick mod list: YP4 Turbos 3" downpipes AWE Track exhaust CF Air intakes Comp Spec Cooling System AEM Meth injection Wavetrac LSD 2.65 Final Drive Ratio Stock transmission tuned for more line pressure stock engine internals 305/35/18 MT ET Street Drag Radials on CCW wheels Full Interior Fuel was 93 octane blended with 110 Renegade |
Epic congratulations!!! My buddy who has met you showed me last night at his shop. Amazing!!!
|
Great run Doug!! What is your rear wheel size/offset? What did you find the best way to launch?
|
Congrats.
What was the cost of the new LSD |

Could you elaborate more about this? Still haven't seen much info about this on the forum. |

Awesome time! That trap speed is just as impressive too. Congrats!

Through tuning we were able to achieve more transmission line pressure at WOT to hold more pressure on the clutch packs. The result is zero slipping and a big increase in torque capacity. There is no sacrifice in drivability because at lower throttle and load values the transmission is still running stock pressure. Just quicker Full throttle shifts and increased torque capacity.

Awesome. I heard a while back something similar from Andrew (power technik) about increasing the trans line pressure through tuning. Who did the TCU tune for you? And my understanding is it has to be loaded on-site as the TCU is located on the trans itself? Would love to see if the shop who did this for you sells the tune file that you could then load onto your vehicle locally...

And there are only a handful of people on this earth that can do it |
Congrats!

For m177 and m178 platform TCU is tunable via OBD not TCU

Its definitely a fast pass but I can't help wonder why a 2.65 final was chosen ? Usually most would run in the 3. something rather than go down in the mid 2's . With my race car ( a 5.0 mustang ) I ran 4.11's with tall tires , making 1260 hp and ran mid 8's at 164 mph . Was the car more set up for 1/2 mile ?

I'm thinking the taller diff ratio was selected to reduce wheel spin and improve traction because of the torque levels, also would give higher terminal speeds |
Taller diff ratio was so he passes the line in 4th gear instead of 5th gear

How do you like the YB4 turbos? I see many customers with great results. Do you have more photos of them on the car?
Do you think there is more left in improving your times? Have you thought about reducing weight? I know here in Gulf we can have option of light weight seats and so on. Great job once again. First and only 9 second c63. |
