Destination and delivery charges
Found car being shipped to another dealer I liked and changed dealers to mine prior to arriving at port. My dealer says I owe destination and delivery of 995$ AND shipping of 650$ from port to my dealer. Is that right?

$995 is right. Don't know why they are trying to get the $650 also unless your change up added the additional cost. Ask them why and see what they say.

I have to agree with OP that this sounds sketchy. I ordered my Volvo XC90 a few years back, the salesman specifically told me that if they find the same model (or I change my mind) on the boat or before it hits a dealer, they can reroute for no fee (std destination charge applies of course). It was no Mercedes, but still $60k vehicle.

This is correct. It's actually a back-end agreement between dealers and there is no set amount. It's what the winning dealer says the cost will be. I basically did this with my car--got it delivered to CA when originally slated for NY--the dealerships have to negotiate the price since they have prepare the car for delivery which includes a detail, tank of gas, processing fees, etc.
