C63/C63S P0128 CEL Code

Hi Everyone,

I currently have a DME Stage 1 tune on my car. I was driving my car today and out of the blue my check engine light went on. Luckily my friend a mile away has an OBD II scanner and we ran it. Turns out it was a P0128 Code which is the thermostat and coolant. Is there a way to reset this? The car runs completely fine. I don't want to have to re-flash it back to stock and take it to the dealer because I don't have a MyGenius and I would have to drive to my tuner then the dealer after.

Did you sort this out? I get this exact error code every time I lift the car a bit ie. on a hoist or jack 😆

I clear it and it doesn't come on again or cause any issues that I know of.

What did you end up doing about yours?

UPDATE: Spoke to tuner who confirmed this is purposely set on tunes to keep the car cooler. So if your tuned, ignore it.

Just got this code as well. Dealer says they need to replace the thermostat under warranty. Taking the car in on Thursday for the repair, I will keep you posted if this resolves the CEL.
After a bit of reading I found that this code can also be present during colder months if the engine temp does not come up within a certain timeframe. For example, I live up in the mountains in Utah and to get to work it's a 15 min drive down the hill where I essentially coast before the car even has a chance to warm up. One day last week was colder than normal and that's when I got my CEL.

Hang on, are you tuned? Just spoke to my tuner who told me to ignore it and that this code is present on tuned cars as it's set that way within the tune to keep the car cooler.

If yours is tuned, you can safely rule it out as a function of your tune.

Ah, I see. That's okay, sounds like you might just be due for a thermostat replacement. Keep us posted mate, hopefully it'll be sorted asap 👍

This sounds fishy to make a general statement that tunes cars would throw such CEL. There are many tuned cars here and nobody has seen or reported that ...and my tuner would sure disagree a CEL is normal after tune,

Sorry to hear that, this site has been such a lesson on modes and ownership.
Most I would ever change on this car would be cosmetic lol

Unless you track it , all the performance mods you do serve no justice. That is just me thou , I cringe at reading some of this stuff.
If you want raw power step up to the 911 , Mclaren , etc or jump into a V10
If you are smart enough to finance or lease a 80K+ Coupe / Sedan then surely you can jump into a Porsche

Again , that's just me. I hate seeing all these stories of error codes and engines blown , oil leaking , etc
This cars appears to be raw from the Jump.

Others wouldn't even know because the error code doesn't come up as a CEL if it's adjusted by the tuner. For me, I'm not throwing a CEL on the dash at all but the code will appear if I scan it. And I'm just reporting back on what my tuner has told me today when I contacted him in case others search for this code.

Doubt anyone else would even bother taking the time to respond or report anyway. Pretty dead in here these days.

Sure, tuners suppress codes caused by the tune to throw a CEL...but he stated he got a CEL on a DMDE tune and I am sure the folks at DME suppress those codes.
