So it depends on what you're using it for. I have a C63 Edition 1 Coupe, that comes in a matte paint. You pretty much can't spot repair or blend in matte paint; you essentially need a full respray. So personally I think its worth its weight in gold for paint protection in that case.
Also, it depends on how you drive. For most people, I think PPF does its job very well. I drive a bit more...shall we say...aggressive. I've pretty much retired a full Xpel wrap on my previous C63S Edition 1 Coupe in 2 years (albeit it was 50K miles)...

I take it you're saying that because you need several of them? Cuz it's listed for $50-$60 USD online, depending on where you buy it from..,

Has anyone taken this (205 780 00 22) off and replaced it? I have one that the finish is coming off and have a new one, but can't seem to find a logical way of getting the old one off.

I replaced mine. The adhesive is extremely strong and it takes a lot of work to get the panel off. I’d recommend using an oscillating multi tool.

Interesting. I spoke to a Mercedes dealership today because the protective plastic film is peeling off the panel and their collision center manager informed me they can't help per Benz protocol. Essentially, it's dyed glass with polyurethane-adhered plastic and they said it's quite easy to break it or the windshield. They also simply can't paint over it and recommended a try a body shop. How can they not replace or correct a panel on their own brand vehicle? Very strange...

The piece is plastic and they dont paint it, it comes off and is held down with Sticky Tape (3m)
IF your dealer is telling you otherwise, switch dealers and call Corp and complain..

Trim warranty is only 1 year . Mine started to discolour and I had to replace it . Its an expensive part and you need a special adhesive that mercedes sell to install it ....its not just urethaned on . You could just paint it or wrap it ..it is paintable

too much work, I repaired and repainted mine - replacement was not necessary at all. Treat it like any other body panel.

Dude that's a bunch of garbage. Yes, the dealer doesn't/can't replace it themselves, but just like they sublet windshield repairs, they sublet this glass panel's repair as well.
Mine wasn't glazing or anything (but as you'll see, it's a common problem as mentioned earlier in this thread, so the dealer indicated that as the problem on my service request). I replaced mine cuz it cracked despite having PPF on it lol. Sucks. I dragged my feet in replacing it until I received a (likely COVID related?) coupon for 25% any service/repair from the dealer. Which basically brought the price of the part down to normal wholesale you can get online (vs their inflated price), so I jumped on it. And cuz I have such a good relationship with the dealer, they applied the 25% discount to the entire bill (including the sublet cost to replace the part). So they had their contractor come into the dealership and replace the glass there. I like that cuz then the dealer is on the hook for any issues with the piece (leaking, etc), vs arguing with a small shop.
Here...take my receipt to your dealer and tell him to stop trying to rape you. Granted, he doesn't have to extend the discount to you, but he should AT LEAST match those prices. Otherwise, tell him you can take your business elsewhere.
(Don't mind the year; the receipt has an error in it that I'm gonna have them fix later (just noticed it when I was scanning it for you now). But it clearly shows C-class and a VIN for a W205).

Its a laminate hence the reason its discolouring . It's not on with 3m adhesive either , mercedes has a special adhesive to attach it but some use urethane which is wrong . Trust me I work for Mercedes and we did mine
