Downpipes ordered for 2020 Coupe

Just ordered the ModalWorks Downpipes for my FL coupe. I went with catted version so no tune required. I’ll post videos as soon as I get them installed.

I already have the ASR module installed so I am hoping that this really opens up the sound.

Congrats! I’m very interested to see if these 200 cell HF catted downpipes can be fitted without a tune and throwing a CEL.

Looking forward to your video!

Oh Nice. Is yours FL or pre-FL? Can you give me any info on what to look for? How much increase in volume? Any increase in pops and bangs? My FL does pop and bang but you really have to drive aggressively.

I have the Face Lift, and to be honest I did not pay attention to how loud it got, but definitely sounds a lot better and has more pops and bangs. I also have an aftermarket cat back system so I am not sure if the changes for me would be the same for you.

Not sure if this is a good example or not.

Sounds great! Now I am really excited. Next step will be catback if this isn’t loud enough. I suspect it’ll be just enough.

Thanks for sharing! Did you have them cut your OEM DP or drop the transmission? I think the emission testing is similar in CA and AZ; do you know if the 200 cell Sport CAT is enough to pass emissions there? I’d rather have shops just chop the OEM to install the new DP and not have to mess with the transmission, but of course that’s a horrible idea if I have to pass emissions down the road haha

We have it easy in Ga, cats are technically there for visual and If the check engine light isn’t on then the car passes the test.

Please post a video of the exhaust once it's done, interested in doing the same thing. I have the active valve module installed on mine as well.

Nice, what I like about this idea is that you don't have to get a tune for the catted downpipes you are getting. For me personally, I just want to improve the sound the car makes without having mess with tuning the engine.

Curious to know when you get the downpipes installed how the car sounds when reving and also if it improves the throttle response and reduce turbo lag even further.

Exactly the reason why I went with Catted DP. I am sure I will tune eventually but then I’ll end up going upgraded turbos at the same time.

Sounds amazing. Do you get the gear upshift burp or brap as well with these downpipes? The facelifted cars do not have that from factory.

DP’s just came in. Going in tomorrow for the install. I am also doing before and after Dyno just to see if there’s any difference. It’s a fairly low reading mustang dyno. My F90 was around 560 whp on this exact dyno. Different day different results but they do apply sae corrections.

Are you going to put the car on the dyno, get a few stock readings, then install the downpipes and re-dyno right after? Definitely interested in seeing if there is any improvement without a tune. Most dyno sheets I have seen only show the difference between a car with downpipes paired with a stage 2 tune and a car with no downpipes and a stage 1 tune. It always had me wondering if the downpipes were the source of any of the gain or if it was just a function of the more aggressive tune.

Correct. Getting a stock baseline then installing Catted DP’s and then re-Dyno afterwards. No tune. Just curios to see what differences DP’s make on their own. Not expecting much but let’s see. I am mainly doing this for the sound.

Excellent. I do not expect much either, but it is still an interesting data point. I will be keeping watch for the results.

elitex, you're the man for doing the Dyno run that way! Not much data, if at all, for downpipes alone. Thinking about getting the same ones.

Yeah I'm interested in seeing the figures for dp's alone. That's the setup that I'm running. PS : just install o2 adapters and no check engine. I've had it this way for like 3 months.

Do we need adapters for the Catted DP’s? I am thinking no.
