Would you buy a used C63s convertible listed as rental form Carfax?

I am looking for a C63s convertible. I came across a 2019, low miles (less than 10k) at a non-Mercedes dealership. Clean Carfax with the exception of it was listed as a rental car. Because of the low miles, I have the feeling that the car was purchased for personal use by a rental car executive. If I were to move forward, I would be getting the car inspected. My big concern is the depreciation hit it could take when I go to sell. The car is priced maybe 10% cheaper than market value. What is the consensus of a purchase like this?

I would be very wary of purchasing a car that's been labeled a rental car. Rental cars are notorious for being badly abused and money pits down the road. The amount you might save on the purchase price might well be taken up by future repair bills. Growing up my aunt had bought a used car that my engineer father determined was a rental car and it was a money pit nightmare. Just my 2 cents.

No way. Used AMG's can be dicy regardless, but one that was a rental? Hard pass.

C63 S AMG Cabriolet
Personally, I wouldn't go for any sports car that had been a rental, because there's a very good chance it has been abused. People don't treat rentals like their own car -- they treat them like a rental.

One other bit of advice I can offer, having just gone through a search for a used C63 S Cabriolet...ask to see the Vehicle Master Inquiry report (VMI). I was all set to buy a used 2019 C63 that had low miles, looked great, etc. But the VMI was incredibly revealing. It showed that the previous owner had purchased a 4-year maintenance plan, but then ditched the car after it had been in the shop over and over in his first year of ownership. One of the items was an "engine leak," so that went from me about to pull out my checkbook, to a hard pass.

Good luck in your search!
