Those who listen to their own MP3s: quickest way to skip tracks while in NAV mode?

I was delighted to find that a 256gb SD card full of FLAC files (lossless MP3) works just great in my C63.

And I was also happy to find there's a shortcut to skip tracks so I don't have to switch from NAV to MEDIA modes: swipe up with two fingers, then swip left or right to change tracks.

My issue is that swiping up with two fingers doesn't work for me about 20% of the time. It will just recognize one finger and change the zoom level of the NAV map.

Is there an easier way that I haven't yet discovered? I like having the map up, but I'd also like to easily skip tracks at the same time without swiping 5 times. These are the often the only two things I use on a drive, and yet Mercedes seems to have made it overly complicated.

Press the voice-command button and say "next track."

Isn't there a next track button on the touchpad? You just hit that and then you can use the wheel or touchpad.

Or just bring it up on the dash and change with your steering wheel.

This btw is why I use carplay. You can have your map with directions on the same screen as your music controls.

A good idea, I just find that method a bit sluggish. Ideally, I wish there were a hard button, preferably on the wheel.

There is a button on the touchpad, and I should probably develop some muscle memory to find it more easily than I do. It's tiny, and groping my finger around a touchpad tends to do unintended things.

When you say, "bring it up on the dash and change with your steering wheel," could you elaborate? Sorry, I'm rather new to the car.

And I've really got to try Car Play, thanks for the reminder. I was thus far undecided whether or not it would be an improvement over the existing system, but this use case might be the deciding factor.

Hit the home button on the left side of your steering wheel and use the arrows to switch the display to show your media.

Once you have that as your dash display you should be able to use the arrows to change the track

Ah thanks, I see what you're saying. I think that would work great for me, if I use the instrument cluster for my map. And that would be my ideal solution, except that the map replaces the tachometer (and I'm still breaking in the car, so keep an eye on my revs is important to me).

Do you, by chance, know if there's a way to have both the map on the instrument cluster and still have a tach? I could well be missing a simple way to keep both.

I believe the map can only replace the tachometer. But I was actually saying to put the music in the center of the instrument cluster, change songs with the steering wheel control, and leave the map on the main infotainment screen.

OMG. I'm not 100% sure that will work for media files from an SD card, but I look forward to trying this. I do recall seeing radio stations on the center display, so...fingers crossed, and thanks! That would truly solve all my problems.

Good topic for me.... I am days away from my new GLC 300 and was wondering just this sort of thing although without the NAV. I have been using GLK CD player for my wives tunes. (Korean music). And without the cd player I will need to use a iPhone or usb/sd card. So I have been wondering how to make it as simple as possible for her. She is not good with computer stuff and all. So using the voice thing listed in this series would be the best. Will let you know what I figure out.
