Exclamation Emergency call system recall

Just got alerted that there is a new recall affecting almost all recent MB/AMG models including some PFL model years. Looks like it's gonna be an OTA update for supported vehicles, so this should be the first software update we are getting OTA on the FL models outside of map updates. Looking forward to it. PFL owners I suppose will have to stop by a dealership.

Looks like there is a second recall for the seatbelt, but this one isn't coming up for my VIN if I check mbusa.com. Might only apply to the sedans. The coupes at least actively tighten the seatbelt after buckling. Not sure if the sedans do as well.

Vehicles recalled: 2017 to 2021 Mercedes-Benz C300 and 2017 to 2020 AMG C43 and AMG C63 vehicles.

The problem: The front seat belt might not fully retract. If the seat belt does not fully retract, the occupant may find the operation of the seat belt inconvenient and not wear it, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The fix: Dealerships will check the retraction function of the front seat belts and, if necessary, adjust the damping foam within the B-pillars, free of charge.

All modern Merc’s will tighten the seat belts after buckling. Can’t remember when this started. It’s actually a feature that can be turned off in the COMAND menu.

Yes, I'm aware that it can be turned off. I kinda like it, although I always have to make sure I don't get my sunglasses caught between the seatbelt and my chest if I have them in my shirt. I'll keep an eye out to see if this one pops up for my VIN eventually, but I still suspect it's only for the sedan as the coupe has a different seatbelt assembly with the extender.

Wouldn't it be wise to notify us through the Mercedes Me app? I'm in Australia and I would say the recall would be here too if it has to do with seatbelts!

Where do we check?

That would be a good idea. Why don't you send this feedback to Mercedes? Here in the USA we can check at https://www.mbusa.com/en/recall and entering the VIN, but I also get notifications through my insurance company via Carfax. That's how I found out about it.
