Merc Newbie PLEASE HELP
Hi Guys and Girls,
l've just purchased a 2018 C63s AMG and the rear Mufflers have been changed to Borla mufflers,
l see no valves on the mufflers so does that mean it just runs in full open exhuast all the time, as i get none of that cool cracks and bangs on downshift.
l also looked to see if the exhuast valve harness has been modified and it hasnt, would this be another reason why it doesnt as the ECU doesnt know its been removed ????

Unless you have the exhaust button on the center console, it seems the sound you have is the sound you have. I understand the car can be ‘tuned’ by the dealership to give you more pops and bangs here in this forum.

l have the switch that changes the modes ie sport sport + and Race but not the exhaust switch. Is there a difference

Yes. If you don't have the exhaust switch it means your car wasn't optioned with the AMG performance exhaust. The Comfort/ Sport/ Sport+/ Race selections are completely different.

so apparently the previous owner said it never came with the valves and just changed the rear mufflers to Borlas. Also heard that Mercedes Dealer can make it POP or to not Pop is that true

as for your 2nd part of the DEALER making it POP.. NO!!!
Do people NOT understand what the POP is ?? its unspent (unburnt) fuel in the exhaust , which means , if you have CATS, your dystroying them.. and if you dont, your just throwing gas out the rear of your car.
And on CONTRARY to what TUNERS say, there is NO POP MOD ,per say, if you want them to mess with your timing and fuel to just dump into your exhaust.. then call it a mod, and pay for the damage afterwords.
On our cars, if you run the car like it was built for in Sport. Sport+, Race .. you will get BACK FIRE , and or BLIP POPs , since the engine is running richer in those settings for performance.
Trying to make your AMG sound like a HONDA always blew my mind away...

So.. Does that mean you never checked the VALVES or HARNESS ?? some of your statements are not aligning up to respond too..

it doesn't even pop in race or Sports plus that's what I'm getting at. Doesn't even have the noise a standard C63 has out the back when you slow down or downshift. I dispise that Honda sound lol

Yes on downshift it gives a very quick blip and then just sounds like it's reving hard whilst it's engine breaking...off the gas.... does that make sense.
