Diff C63 and C63s

Can you install a C63s diff to a C63 , same ratio 2.82?

Technically yes, the FL C63 and C63S both now have the electronic locking differential and yes as far as I know both S and non-S have the same final drive ratio. However, the electronic diff has to be coded in so that it works. Obviously you need the electronic part to work as the PFL non-S diff is purely mechanical. Things like the ESP, DYNAMIC SELECT, Race Start etc. have to be coded properly so that they take advantage of the diff and all works correctly, otherwise you just gonna have an open diff.

Can The diff run like a normal C63 if the diff lock is not plugged in in the diff ?

No, not unless you wanna give up the locking character of the diff. The C63 diff is a limited slip differential, and it mechanically locks based on rotational differences between the left and right side. The C63S diff uses a multi plate clutch instead to lock the differential as necessary based on an algorithm and various sensor inputs. Without the action of the clutch you have an open differential at all times.

So my diff on the C63 is damaged, I went and got a C63s diff with the same ratio of 2.82,w205 2015, now question is will it work? If so what needs to be done in order to cancel the electronic Part on the C63s

I'm not entirely sure what you are expecting here. Should have gone and get the correct part. You don't wanna cancel the electronic part of the diff. Do you understand the difference between an LSD and an open diff? These cars have locking diffs for a reason. The ESP and traction control all factor in the differential, so they'll likely be totally confused if the behavior of the rear wheels doesn't match expectations. I haven't heard of anybody retrofitting a C63S diff to a C63, but that's essentially what you'd have to do and not sure what's all involved, but probably doable with the necessary coding knowledge, but much easier to replace it with the correct part.

What's broken on your C63 diff? Why not get it fixed? If you still want to use the C63S diff, you'll need to code your C63 car to use the E-diff. You could remove the E-diff from the C63S case and put your mechanical diff into the C63S case.

*****THIS. The electronic part of the diff is a critical part of the performance of the car. You can bolt it up, but there are a LOT of performance feedback loops that will be negatively affected. Get the right part, or get the original fixed. It's kind of like using one of those cheap donut spare tires after you have had a flat - the car will roll, but you really don't wanna drive too much with a setup like that. The electronic versus non electronic are very different in how they integrate with the rest of the car they are designed for.

Get it fixed right, there are safety issues as well with an open diff versus the electronic in terms of traction control and how it all comes together, etc.. Just get the right part, or you will probably be doing this job twice at 3x the cost if you're lucky.

hi mate. I know I’m two years late to the party, but did you sort this? Kind of in the same situation right now! Help!
