C63S Oil Change with just filter/oil??

Out of curiosity, can the first oil change (or any) just consist of oil and filter only? And not the gasket/plug etc...?

I have a 2021 C63s Coupe with around 1,100 miles. It's going on 1 year in October and was just getting the stuff ready for when I change it.

What Mercedes does and what I do now too is use a vacuum extractor pump with a tube shoved down the dipstick into the oil pan. You can find them online for not too much. Some Mercedes have a top mounted oil filter which means you don't even need to lift the car for an oil change. Sadly our cars have a bottom mounted filter and require the front most 2 plastic covers to be unbolted. I still vac the oil out from the top though, eliminates mess, makes containment a breeze, and no it doesn't leave oil behind in the pan.

My recent Service A with the Oil Change ,(photo below for Part numbers for both the Screw Plug and Seal Ring that were replaced. Done at the MB Dealership for my 2019 C63s coupe. The Screw Plug was $29.75 and Seal Ring was $8.70.

I can't believe they have the audacity to charge $29 for a drain plug. Insane. And $15 total for washer fluid. Reminds me why I do my own work!

Exactly mate, I do my own oil and filter changes now and it's one of the easiest cars to work with once you take off the under tray.

Curious, do you re-use your plastic drain plug or do you buy a new one each time?

*****Yea, they totally rip you off on all of that. I totally understand they have costs, but $29 is ridiculous for that plastic plug. Below is a scan of what I have used - that's two plugs and the tool to remove it safely. They work great and seem *exactly* the same as what came out.

Ran into something similar with another brand of car.

My advice is to if the factory oil change procedure calls for a new plug and new gasket (or in the case of the brand of car I had at the time a new oil drain sealing ring) to use a new plug and new gasket.

Plastic drain plugs I believe are intended for one use only. Like the sealing ring in my car's case. The oil sealing ring (and in your case the drain plug/gasket) are the sacrificial items in the oil sump/pan and drain plug/gasket relationship.

Over 317K miles, and approx. 64 oil/filter services, and the drain pan (and aluminum drain plug) were fine. The sealing ring did its job and sealed the drain plug and pan yet prevented damage to the pan and the critical surface to which the drain plug sealed with the help of the sealing ring.

Might mention there was a furious debate about this sealing ring business. Some owners elected to reuse the ring. Talked to a couple of senior techs -- separately -- about this. I heard pretty much the same from both techs. They could always tells when the oil changes had been done by the owner or elsewhere. The sealing ring had obviously not been replaced and there was a seepage of oil from around the drain plug.

I did my own oil changes some times and always used a new sealing ring and new o-rings on the filter canister. The oil filter was a canister with a separate filter element.

I have only done oil on this car with the vacuum extractor so I have never actually removed the plug on this car! But if it called for it to be changed I would
