Louder exhaust?

I have a 2017 c63 amg and on sport mode it’s pretty loud on high rpms but on normal speeds I would like a deeper and louder tone.

should I do a secondary cat and resonator delete or just the cat?

*****Depends on how loud you want it to be. Gonna assume you have the performance exhaust with the valves open. Basically the more you remove, the louder it will be. A turbo car will somewhat be quieter than an N/A car as the exhaust is going through the turbos before exiting out. Some people aren't happy unless their car sounds like an open pipe Harley Hog motorcycle.

In my area, they get pulled over fast and fined a lot of money to get it fixed.

I have the AMG performance exhaust with the valves open, secondary cat delete on shielded downpipes with 200 cell cats and it is *plenty* loud with the valves open on the exhaust. Plenty loud for me may be baby sleep quiet for you, especially if you listen to loud rock music with devil worship, or that pelvic thrusting Elvis guy, or uhhh... Rammstein if you wanna at least be consistent and go German!

Below are a couple of nice pics of Rammstein - one before Till got grotesquely fat from too much schnitzel and beer, and the other with his intake valve open. That group can rock the house!

lol love the reply!

yeah I think there’s a lot of fines in my area too (toronto)

I think I’m going to try the secondary cat first, then resonator if it’s not enough.

Then a burble tune? Haha

this car doesnt have a resonator (assuming you have the performance exhaust)

first thing i did was get a secondary cat delete - that should give you a nice increase in sound

then when i get too used to it, I got an AWE Track Exhaust and I think now for me the car just sounds great and menacing.

im also from toronto btw and been pulled over for speeding with the cops saying i could hear you from far but other than that no cop ever gave me a hard time on the sound or ticketed me for it.

I recommend the RENNtech exhaust module, it gives you the option via a remote control to keep the exhaust valve fully open in all modes or you can keep it completely stock. Takes about 30 seconds to install. Changes the exhaust note nicely, louder and deeper even in comfort mode 👍

so I’ve wondered about this. Is my understanding correct that this mod is still helpful on 2019+ facelifts with perf exhaust and the open/close button? I’ve heard even though we have that button is still doesn’t fully open the exhausts unless in high rpm and that this mod keeps it FULLY open 100% of the time

will this work on a 2017 c63? I’m not sure if I have the performance exhaust since I got this used but I think it does because it has the exhaust valve button

****So far, No CEL. They used a spacer in addition to the 200 cel cats and secondary delete. I was told the cats will not last forever but the spacers are easy enough to replace to fix or mitigate the possibility of a CEL.

No Dragy or track times yet (I live near a drag strip), but the car feels absolutely monstrous after the 900 turbos installed plus the new downpipes and dyno tune. Feels like a whole different car now. I'll upload some sound files when I get a chance. Sounds good and quiet in comfort mode with valves on and just menacing with the cars valves off and the car in Sport or Sport+ mode. Decent pops and burbles in Sport+ without sounding Ricey. Well tuned car.

Very happy with everything. And it all only cost a lot of money!

2017 C63s with secondary cat delete and AWE track exhaust… Kept the primary cats….didn’t want to smell the fumes… Toronto here too…. I think this is a great set-up to go with….

I can confirm. I have a 2019 c63s with Renntech module. Valves are open 100% even at idle. Sounds great!

if you dont wanna go catless, do a secondary cat delete + track exhaust or cut off performance exhaust, which is reversible.

Trust me, its loud.

*****Yea it is. I don't have track exhaust but did do secondary delete along with my bigger turbos and it sounds flippin' monstrous now. I have a PFL model (2018) and purposely did not do any of the dealer updates that seemingly have neutered the sound on other cars. I had a nice gal in my car yesterday who drives a little C300 Benz that is SO quiet, you don't even notice the motor, exhaust or anything.. I gave her a ride in my car with the AMG exhaust valves open and a bit of spirited driving and she was like "OMG". I didn't peg her for a religious gal, but she said "OMG" so many times I'm thinking she's gonna be a regular church go'er from the sounds of it now... I had it in Sport+ mode and it was popping and burbling a bit as well - something her little car does not do, like ever... Really happy with the mods on the car. I can make it sedate and quiet, or sound like rumbling big block twin turbo motor with just a couple of switches.

Cool car.

You might want to consider valvetronic exhaust from FI Exhaust.

Guys I went to the exhaust shop and we saw that the last owner did a catless header (now the smell makes sense) and the rest is two H pipes from the factory? Lol

So the only way to make it louder is muffler delete but I’m not trying to mess with the valves.

Might just go with a burble tune?
