Pano roof suggestions/advice needed

Not gonna lie I should’ve just took the L and had it done at the dealership. However i was able to fully disassemble the sunroof, headliner, shade, and sunroof rails. The question now is wether to install new ones myself or have them order it and install. I read something about a xentry and anti pinch system… could I install and have them program that? The motor gear(teeth) looks fine. Debating on what to do so please all your inputs will be helpful!

Probably should’ve wiped the lube off but oh well, they are good trust

Should have thought about it more before you removed everything, you might as well complete the job. Do a search here …

*****Oh wow. That does not look like an easy job. What was the problem? Were the gears seemingly not engaging or making a grinding noise? Or, was their NO movement at all? Does the motor at least energize when you put power to it or is it dead? I've never done my C63s but have done another platform and it required re-programming for the timing, and energizing cycle, plus as you mentioned getting the anti-pinch system working properly. Please excuse the question, but is the fuse to the sunroof good? Do you get power?

I'm manly enough to admit I have taken something apart like this only to find a fusible link was intermittent or a fuse was blown and I *should* have checked that first!

You're ***** deep now. I'd try and do the job myself. It's a job that might require a second person to align the glass properly before buttoning it all down.

Dunno if it requires re-programming. The old program is there so presumably if the old motor was still good, everything might just come together nicely. A new motor might require the limits to be adjusted through programming.

Let us know how it works out. Good luck and good for you to try and do the job yourself.

changed out the rails and adjusted the back stop and front points, pano glass still sitting a lil high in the back but sunroof works just as good as before it broke. The left back rail mount was stuck in the up position so when I closed it the right front slider broke clean off. Decided to take this project on myself. Spent around $500 versus the $3k I was quoted. Gonna take it in still to see if I can get the anti pinch reprogrammed and hopefully that slight minimal gap in the back gets closed so it’s flush with the back glass
