Windshield Replacement and wipers

I had safelite replace my windshield due to a crack that I picked up and now the rain sensing wipers no longer function. I can manually use the stalk to operate them but they no longer operate automaticly. In my research I have read that the sensor probably needs to be calibrated but I haven't seen a lot of info on how to do that. Yes, I could call safelite, but its kind of a hassle to drive it back over there and leave it etc. I'd prefer to just do it myself if its possible.

Here are the things I have tried:
I read that I need to open and shut the hood. Did that and no luck.
I read to get in the car, turn it on, turn the wipers to level zero , then level three, then 1 and have someone pour water over the sensor. Its raining pretty hard today so I did that and no luck.

Does anyone here know how to fix this?

I had the windshield replaced on our 2017 C43 sedan (cracked within hours on first long trip immediately after break-in!) and the installer told me that if they don't use OEM windshields you'll very often find that the front windshield sensors/cameras don't work properly. He was also careful not to disconnect the unit during the replacement process claiming that it will often need some software work (calibration?) if disconnected. While this is heresay, he was the installer who specialized in the higher-end vehicles and definitely knew what he was doing.

Exactly what the above stated. If you do not shell out 3x the cost of a knockoff windshield and qualified installers, this happens.

Safelite is responsible to return your car to you in fully operating condition. Call them about coming to you to fix it. You should not have to go to them.

There's calibration required for the cameras etc. when replacing the windshield. You are not gonna do that yourself. Safelite now has the equipment to do it. Cars used to have to go to the dealership after replacing the windshield to do the calibration. The other point as mentioned, aftermarket glass will likely cause issues. I always make sure they replace it with OE glass. In fact with the cameras etc. my insurance covers OE glass, because they know the aftermarket glass causes issues. I only use Safelite for repairs these days. My MB dealership has their own factory trained glass technicians and they do everything in house. This way it all works afterwards. Had the windshield replaced once so far on my coupe and no issues afterwards.

Thanks all.

I caved and scheduled a warranty replacement with Safelite and they will do the repairs at the house. They have a 12 month warranty on all rain sensing calibration so it shouldn't be an issue.
