Question Wireless carplay?

FL coupe here. The Carplay situation is absolutely atrocious if you ever want to actually use the cup holders and Carplay at the same time. Also quite bizarre for MB to offer wireless charging but requiring wired Carplay. Does anyone know any aftermarket solutions that offers wireless Carplay? I've seen a plug and play box floating around the forums but not 100% sure.

There are adapters such as Carlinkit, but they all have somewhat of a bulk to them, so they take up space. Won't really solve your cupholder issue as the adapter will essentially block the wireless charging pad. I only occasionally use CarPlay and then I just plug it in. Not a big deal for me. I don't really use the cupholders, either, so I have them removed most of the time. No drinking in my car.

Haha, I use the car the commute everyday and have to use the cup holders for my coffee. I'll look into the Carlinkit, any experience with it (customer service, quality, reliability, etc.)?

Search this forum (GT section, IIRC) and you'll find some postings.

The 10" or 12" options from DMP Car Design work very well. I just installed mine myself and the wireless carplay system works perfectly. The ability for your passengers to watch YouTube Netflix, live TV doesn't hurt either.

No personal experience with any of the adapters. I prefer wired CarPlay. It's more stable and doesn't cook the phone. With wireless CarPlay and charging at the same time, the phone gets really hot. I use CarPlay when traveling in rental cars and such and have had issues with wireless CarPlay where the phone gets really hot and starts to freeze or stops charging. It's a common issue with wireless CarPlay. The other issue is that the wireless chargers don't supply enough juice to actually charge the phone while it's running CarPlay, so I end up using USB charging anyway in order to not arrive with a drained battery at my destination. So, I always end up plugging in the phone, especially on longer trips. Regarding the cup holders, I stopped drinking coffee in my cars after I spilled some.

My phone battery is pretty healthy and my commute isn't terribly long, so usually I don't even charge my phone. I just hate seeing wires in my car haha, a bit of OCD I suppose. But I definitely understand where you are coming from.

I've looked through their website and it seems the only ones they offer are for the PFL models. I currently have a FL model, sorry if that wasn't clear

They have a professional customer service team. I've just come across their Limited Time Offer.

I’m running the Ottocast U2 wireless CarPlay. It has a small footprint and tucks away nicely out of view in wireless section which I have no use for. It performs very well also

I bought this for my 2019 c63s and works perfectly: https://amzn.to/44upc5Q
and when I take road trips in my f150, I pull it and swap it to the truck and works perfectly too.
Gotta be careful, some of the wireless adapters have delay when using the little trackpad on the steering wheel, but this one is just as fast as wired carplay

I've tried a few others, but this one is much smaller (like a USB thumb drive) and comes with usb c adapter in case you want to swap to another car.

Don't mess with any product that does both AA and CP. They will be slower and more buggy than the dedicated wireless adapters. There are a bunch of single operating system adapters on Amazon and they are all the same, dedicated to either AA or CP and not both. Very stable, very quick.

Here are two:

Both Ottocast and the sponsor product above are dual platform products and thus slow and buggy. I wouldn't waste your time with either of them.

I appreciate the heads up! What's the difference between the two products you linked? Both of them seems to be the exact same thing

They are the same, pretty sure since they use the same stock images. The top one is what I have and it's probably just an older form factor. It doesn't get in the way too much with my cupholders and wireless charger but obviously it would be better if it was smaller, and the 2nd link appears to be smaller.

Thanks so much! The previous one I had always took awhile to connect and had a half second delay between input and action. Hopefully this one is an improvment!

Keep other iPhone users posted. My AA works fabulously well with it. No button delays whatsoever, voice commands work quickly as expected. By the time I back out of my garage and driveway (30yards), it's already wirelessly playing Spotify with the waze map up and running before I put it into drive.
