Gas smell
I’d start by checking that over, although smelling it when the heater is only suggest a leak or deteriorating hose towards the front of the car.
By any chance have you recently filled the car til the pump clicks, and then top it off a little more? I have read that it can flood the canister and cause a gas smell

I only smell it on mine when the weather is in the 50's. Took it to the dealership and it was a hose leak.
