transmission slipping at higher rpm’s?? need some insight

was driving today and noticed my transmission slipping / shifting late at higher rpm’s. my car has around 57k miles am i overdue for transmission fluid flush? my friend told me it’s most likely the tranny fluid and i’ve been tripping about this for nearly two hours now.

Do you have the PFL or the FL 7G or 9G? If the trans is actually slipping like you say a fluid and filter exchange is not going to help much IMO. The damage is done. I would check to make sure you don’t have leaks and the trans isn’t low on fluid.

You're about due for the second transmission service as said. At least for the 9-speed the 60k/6-year service includes the transmission. I just had my 5 year service on my FL done yesterday and picked it up today. It was spark plugs time. Mine is low mileage, though, so only about 30k miles on it, but the plugs were due based on time. Piece of mind I suppose to do it at a lower mileage. I did have a misfire last year, but there was an ECU update and it hasn't occurred since. The update also fixed my errant low oil warnings.

Slipping transmission could be due to low clamping pressure as a result of low fluid, but I believe the transmission would log an error if pressure was too low. If the clutches are worn, then yeah fresh fluid isn't gonna do the trick. Are you tuned? Otherwise worn clutches at ~60k seems premature.

I changed my trans fluid at 20k miles to try and alleviate the low speed jerk/shudder on my 21. Mine has 28k on the clock right now. And the fluid when serviced was broken down with light metal contaminants from break in. 8 liters of fluid and a new pan/filter assembly coupled with a trans adapt reset fixed my low speed jerk tremendously. So if you never changed your fluid or filter at all and you’re at 60k, can’t imagine how bad the fluid is broken down and contaminated on yours. That may have contributed to your pre-mature trans failure IF that ends up being the case for you.
