Squeal while turning and braking on the right.
I was driving up a mountain pass and heard a loud squeal while braking and turning right.
Since then, I've occasionally heard that squeal while braking and turning right.
It never makes the squeal while braking in a straight line or turning left.
The car is a C63S sedan with high-performance brakes and 94,000 miles.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
- you could have some debris (e.g., a small rock) that's gotten between the pad and rotor ... though that normally will cause an "always squeal" condition
- if you have air in your brake lines (i.e., they need to be bled), turning can cause a change in pressure in the brake line as it changes its bend and cause the pad to be pushed out a bit, thus causing a squeal (I've seen this situation exactly once ... and I'm an ol' fart)
- finally, make sure your brake line hasn't shifted from it's normal position (removed lines/calipers lately?) such that, when turning/braking the "steel spring" outer protector is coming in contact with the edge of the rotor (I had this once when I changed to stainless-steel/braided brake lines that had slightly different shapes than the OEM lines so I had to be very careful with the mounting/tightening of the lines)
