Bosch Module Behind Star

Hey all, I really am confused on what this could be that's located behind the star emblem in the front grill. If anyone can shed some light on the situation and answer what it could be that's very appreciated. I'll locate some pictures in the post to show specifics of what I'm asking about.
The thing in question is the bosch module behind the front star emblem. I really have been searching everywhere about a electronic module behind the star and can't find anything on any diagrams. To my knowledge (I've owned the car for 4 months) it's either a radar for cruise control or a sensor of some sorts. The wire does connect to the headlight connector on the passenger side. I don't have any illumination on the star emblem (or I don't know how to turn it on) if it is that. Any answers really are appreciated. Thanks.

Depending of your car VIN/Options list the Radar behind the Star can be used for a simple Forward Collision Warning System or for Distronic.

I sadly don't have distronic so that's out of the equation, I'm assuming it's for forward collision warning. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is why are there so many cameras near the rear-view mirror area.

Makes sense, I always thought every star was the same where you just turn it and it pops out like in some of the earlier models.

It's part of the collision warning system, which you still have even without DISTRONIC, same for the single camera in the windshield. There's only one camera if you don't have the driver assistance package and in addition to the camera there's the rain sensor. It's likely a simplified radar module. If you google the part # that's on there you'll find the below. It's the holder for the module and from the description it's part of the collision warning system. The part # of the module itself should be printed on there somewhere as well if you want to take off the cover a look for it. Then you can google it as well.

With the driver assistance package there are two cameras behind the windshield for stereo vision and the Mercedes Star is painted instead of 3D, and probably a different radar module behind it.
