C63s snapping back when I try to slide/drift

Hey guys, I’ve got a 2015 c63s it’s lowered on 20” wheels

and when I try to have some fun in a closed environment “ofc” lol I’ll try to take a corner in sports plus traction fully off manual mode. I’ll go sideways one way then I’ll feel abit of diff tramp and just fling me back straight and sorta cuts power. If I start from a stand still and slide the corner it’s fine. Only if I’m going around 15-20kmh around the corner and try to kick it out. It’ll do it

i was wondering if this is “normal” or if anyone else experiences this. Please let me know. Thanks boys 🙏🏽

Do you happen to use the brakes? AMGs reactivate ESP when you step on the brakes. The thinking is that if you step on the brakes mid drift, things are probably going wrong, so ESP kicks in to help with stabilizing the car. Otherwise it's not normal. I have done enough 360s to know that ESP is fully off when off, although my experience is with the 2019+ models where the S has the 9-stage traction control system from the GT R, but with it all the way off as well, there's nothing that keeps it from doing a complete spinout. Also are you sure ESP is fully off and not just in Sport Handling mode? Press and hold the ESP button for about 3 seconds to fully turn it off.

Yea mate, I’ve completely turned traction off in sports plus not just in sport mode. And no I don’t touch the brake whatsoever. As I’m sliding one way it’ll bite back and straighten me abruptly

I’ve done standstill burnouts leading into fishtailing and it’s fine. I’ve done 360’s and donuts it’s fine. Only when I try to slide it out for some fun. Have a look at these 2 videos take moments after it snapped back. It was fine. And no brake has been used. Any thoughts ?

Those videos don't really tell me much, other than the tires could potentially be hooking up momentarily. I suppose there is a possibility that the locking differential is not working correctly. Those early units have some known issues. So if it's slipping or not locking for some reason then you could temporarily experience a one wheel spin, and get an unpredictable drift as happens with open differentials.

That’s what I think bc they are big 20” wide tyres and just hook up. I was worried that it could be something with my differential but she definitely doesn’t one wheel spin it always does lock up. I just wanna know why it does “hook” up like that if it does. Then again I run 275/30/20 on rear with the gaurd sitting on my tyre lol

Wait what? You run 20" wide tires? I think you meant 20" wheel diameter, not width. Sounds like you have a sedan. I should probably have asked. I have a coupe and it has stock size 285 20" tires in the rear, so 275 isn't all that wide. The sedan does have an entirely different rear axle as opposed to the coupe, so I should have probably mentioned that, too. I've only drifted coupes with their wider rear track.

Yea sorry lol it’s 20inch wheel diameter. Yea it is a sedan. I’ve also read about “torque shut” and forgot to mention my car has not been tuned at all. It’s something a tcu and ecu tune will get rid of.

Snapping back and tires hooking up means they have stopped rotating or nearly so. Why is that happening? Did you get sweaty palms and lift?

C63/S Sedan / Wagon versus Coupes.

While front suspension are all the same - rear do not have both the “uprated” bushings or Toe arms (as on the Coupes).

At K-MAC we have the experience of manufacturing uprated suspension bushings (and Camber Caster kits) longer than anyone else (since 1964).

For the C63/S Sedan and Wagon - We therefore manufacture Uprated bushes for the ‘6’ rear multi link arms. Significantly eliminating rear end flex. Excess inner edge tire wear both sides. Providing tauter response, improved traction. Especially when applying power to long change / overtake.

Also like the Coupe - “uprated Toe arms” to reduce flex / Toe change when cornering.

Plus “Camber adjustment” for the rear including “all Coupe models” !

Not inaccurate one offset position shims - but replacing the large diameter soft rubber inner rear bushes at the same time. With the K-MAC Patented design providing single wrench “precise” and serious adjustment - up to 3 degrees extra Positive or Negative Camber (plus extra Toe adjustment to compensate).

K-MAC - Fit without special tools or need to removal control arms. Ultimate adjustment - direct on alignment rack - UNDER LOAD.

FRONT - Camber and Caster kits - also fit without arm removal Uprating at the same time the 4 major lower arm bushes !
