TCU of the 9 Speed MCT

Hi! Just joined our forum! Here's a pic of her

I have a 2020 C63S 9 speed with hybrid turbos and ECU/CPC tune. And I am really on the edge of getting TCU tuned as well.
What is the stock torque limit of this transmission? Is it absolutely necessary to tune it when pushing 900-1000nm of torque?
Additionally, will there be benefits of better shift logic as well? (as in shift points related to rpm and throttle position)

Any thoughts will be appreciated! Been a long time M owner and just made the switch to this platform and it sure gets confusing! Guess that's just Mercedes Ay.

No direct experience, unfortunately. I have young kids and can’t justify a fun car yet. However, every time I read about someone getting a TCU tune they always rave about the results and say they should have done it sooner.

The torque limit of the 9-speed MCT is 900 Nm from what I can find. A tune isn't gonna increase that necessarily. The torque limit is down to the mechanical parts. Gear sizes and clutches. Best a TCU tune can do is tell the engine to reduce the torque in the lower gears to protect the transmission, but what most TCU tunes also do for this platform is to increase the clamping force of the clutches to allow them to hold more torque. That's what tuners usually do to make sure the transmission doesn't blow up w/o mechanical upgrades. I don't have personal experience with a TCU tune. I mostly drive mine in manual mode, so shift points are up to me. The automatic programs are always gonna be reactive, so if you wanna truly drive this car and be in tune with what you do, manual mode is the way to go.

Ultimately the bigger limitation of this platform is traction. Most tuned cars struggle to actually put that torque and power down in the first place, so the transmission isn't really reaching its torque limit as all you do is spinning and lighting the rear tires on fire.

just put 305/30/19 nankang ar-1's in the back with 10.5J et55. somehow managed with slight rubbing on both sides, but now the thing is PULLING.

Yes, sure you can do that, but that's a semi slick track tire. Ok to drive to and from the track, but not for regular street driving and don't drive it in the wet.
