Catalytic Converter Issues
I have an 03 Cl with 45K and I have a serious rattle in the cats. What is my best solution? Shouldn't these have lasted longer than 45K miles and will they be covered under warranty? I think if I have to spend the money for new ones I will just invest in something better than OEM. Any advice would be appreciated.

cats question
Thanks! This is my first Benz and I am not sure what is covered and what isn't and I get very vague answers from MB when I ask questions concerning things that will potentially cost them money.

Ridiculous
I have to vent! I got my car back from MBZ without them replacing the cats because they wouldn't rattle for em. But before I took it in they were rattling for about the past month. I drove the car home, went to the gym, and they are rattling again! Two days after getting the car home...it's going back in. This is ridiculous. They are telling me I have to duplicate the sound for them. I let the service guy hear the rattle over the phone but he said only if it does it when it comes in. How do I reproduce the rattle...get the engine REALLY hot?:nix:

Put the service guy in the passenger seat and take him to a spot that you feel the car rattles most.. (maybe your garage?) :smash: Don't you find that your car always gets better as it drives into the stealership?

Bring it in when it is rattling. It is usually worse when the cats get really hot after lots of driving.

Finally!!!
Well one cat has been replaced and now she is going in for the exhaust hook-up. I purchased used Eisenmann race mufflers off of this forum and I just dropped her at the Kleeman shop this afternoon. I did a couple of things to her first. I bought an AMG trim piece for the bumber($89) and cut the rear fascia so it would fit nicely...small cutouts, nothing major. The little trim piece needed to be custom fit but it was easy with a Dremel tool and a couple hours of sizing it up and sanding. I expect the shop to charge me about $180 for the muffler job. They are a little steep but the job will get done right! Hopefully I will get her back in a couple days and can share the new pics and sound with everyone. I cannot wait.:wootrock:
