Importing CL600 from USA to Canada

I found an 03 cl600 in California for $11000 with 97000 miles and was wanting to import it to Canada and i was wondering how much i should expect to pay. Has anybody been through the importing process and can tell me about it?

I have heard that it is relatively expensive, for some reason you must get the work done at the dealer or it cant be "certified" for Canada, um the cost I heard of was about 3000-5000$

I think you should call your local dealer and a independent mechanic for quotes...

Approx. cost: 6.1 % Import Duty, 5 % GST on total, Provincial sales tax, except in Alberta. $100.00 air condition fee, $300.00 Federal Inspection (can be done at Canadian Tire) Out-of-Province inspection, approx. $200.00. Of course, at the moment the US$11.000 will cost you approx. $12,500 Canadian. Transportation from California to - for example - Calgary, $2,000.00 - Or fly down and drive back. There are no longer any modifications to the bumper required - which were quite expensive. Daylight running lights and Metric speedometer might require a visit to the dealer. The required tether for the child seat is hidden under the rear headrest, not too many people know that, and think they have another great expense to meet Canadian Standards. Govt. of Canada has a website explaining it all.

"Calgary" nailed it..
And make certain your paperwork beats the vehicle to the border by at least 7 days and you may want to search for a shop to do the headlights rather than the dealer $$ before you take to Canadian Tire and...at least in Alberta...no window film..

A $11000 cl600 will have at least $11000 in needed repairs

Any US car will cost you 30% to get up to Canada. That 30% includes exchange but excludes any transport or any repairs once it gets up here to pass inspection:

$11500 x 1.30= $14950 Canadian
