Ouch that's a shame! Nothing on the CL is cheap to repair, and the aluminum bodywork just raises the cost that much more. Have you gotten an estimate yet?

Very few shops are prepared to repair aluminum bodied cars.
The aluminum panels can't be straightened, they will need to be replaced with new parts or takeoffs from undamaged salvage.
Body parts and much of the inner inner structure are riveted and bonded. So pulling salvage parts is different and time consuming.
Inner structure is bent as can be seen by the trunk lid angle.
Wild guess, $10K?

The car will likely be totaled, given the cost of repairs.

I once had a friend back into our SL at a party with minor damage to grill, hood and bumper (nothing like this) and it was $12K.
This will be quite a bit more if done by MB

@Wolfman, by MB do you mean certified collision shops listed on MB USA? I should have a police report by Friday. You guys don't think it'll be repaired? I really like the coupe I looked so long and hard for a perfect CL.

Yes, either body shops that are part of an MB dealer (as is our case) or MB certified body shops. Whichever one you pick, they have to be certified for MB aluminum repairs.

The car clearly can be repaired. It's just a numbers game.
If you might still buy it from them and attempt a repair. Personally I would move on to another one.

I did notice that the car is too low, even too low to be lowered. Lowered or ABC issues?

it's an abc issue. When it sits for for a day it gets like sometimes much less than a day.

Get rid of the car. Get as much as you can from the insurance and move on to a car that has no issues...

Good luck!

Had a CL500, SL55 & SL600 and liked the 600 the best. Also fits the character of the car the best.

For practicality/maintenance costs, the 500 will be best aka cheapest.
I don't recall if the CL600 was available with a sport package which is preferred.
As for everything, low mileage, late models would be my preference.

did you pref the SL or CL? I feel like the 600 anything is better. But I hear the nightmares about oil leaks are brutal.

Loved the CL but SL all the way for me. It's a convertible with a hardtop that when closed gives you a solid coupe experience.

But it's a 2 seater and you may want the rear seats.

The V12 TT is a solid engine. No issues with oil leaks. But V12's are expensive to service.
Spark plugs, ignition coils, motor mounts (for which the engine has to come out).
ABS is the same as the CL. But driving is a hoot. very fast and torque galore
My recommendation: Drive a few different models and will know very quick which one you want. Then start looking for the best deal...

2003 CL 600
100% totaled, that sucks. These cars are way down on value and nowhere near worth fixing, even in a minor accident, that's a lot of damage.

I'm biased, but a 600 is the only way to go on a CL. If you are gonna deal with ABC and all the other headaches the cars have as they get old and everything breaks, you might as well have a buttery smooth, 500+hp V12 to pull you around. There's just nothing else like it and it fits the driving characteristics of the car so well.

Her last ride
@steaksauce it is kings highway. I grew up over there. Momma still lives there. They took it away last week. I'm considering a California 600. It's black on black 03. The miles are high though. I think 130k or 140k. What should I look for when buying a 600? I'll prob start a new thread for this.
