2006 CL500 ABS Issues

Hello
I am new to MBWorld. I have inherited a 2006 CL500 with only 6500 miles. Never owned a Mercedes before. I am debating if I should keep it or sell it. My biggest concern is the suspension system repair costs. Reading the treads I see a lot of problems with the system leaking and pumps failing. With only 6500 miles I don't know if it will be an issue right now. Just wanted to get the MBWorld community's thoughts on this.

Thanks

IF I would inherit a 2006 CL500 with only 6500 miles, I certainly would not worry about an ABC repair in a few years time.....

The parts wear with age also, the rubber hoses and things harden and fail over time, it's actually worse when the car isn't driven often.

Check it over carefully, if there's anything leaking, repair it. If not, enjoy it.

That was my thoughts also since the car has mostly just be garaged over the past 12 years. I am going to get it checked out hoping that all the ABC and other rubber hoses have not dried out or leaking. I know I will have to get tires as the original factory tires on the car are 12 years old. Plenty of thread left but don't trust the sidewalls at that age. Still may sell as I do not want to deal with the ABC that could go bad anytime with no warranty.

Thanks for the input.

HOnestly it’s best if you just put it in bringatrailer or eBay as low mileage cars fetch really good money $(20-30,000) from owners who want to replace their old car with a low mileage one . As soon as you rack up the mileage it’s value will drop

Then if you want a cl500 spend $5000/6000 to get a well maintained higher mileage car .

If you are afraid of fixing the suspension, absolutely sell it. This car will start to break as soon as you start driving it, and you will always be fixing something. PSE, ABC, fluid leaks, all will become an issue as it starts to be used.

And your trunk won't open (plus 8 or 10 other things :-)
But we do love these cars, and put up with the maintenance as the cost of ownership. If you can't do a large portion of the maintenance yourself, heed the excellent advice and sell her now.

Thanks all for the great advise. First thing I am going to do is take it to the dealer to have the car checked out. Will make a decision after checkout. Right now leaning towards selling. I know it will be a fun car to drive but at what cost?

a high cost .
yiu can find a nice 70/80k mile car for $5000 if you really want one
sell the cream puff 6000 mile car to a collector willing to pay the premium for a low mileage car
