Automatic braking while cruise control engaged

I just bought a 2008 CL and, when I have cruise control engaged, the breaks will automatically engage when I'm nowhere near the car in front of me (often times there is no car in front of me). I presume this is because the sensors are picking something up ahead of me and disengaging the cruise control. Does this sound right? Is there a way to turn off all of the sensors in the car (and still use the cruise control feature)? Engaging the cruise isn't worth it when your car suddenly brakes when you're not expecting it.

I haven't been able to find a way around this. Your best bet is to push the stalk in and use the limiter instead. That way you can set it to whatever you want your cruising speed to be and just keep your foot on the accelerator. If you disable the radar sensor in the settings, it disables cruise control altogether.
