CL63 spyshots
"The just launched new AMG 8 cylinder 6.3 litre 510 HP engine, which came first on the market in the Mercedes M-Class is about to climb up the career ladder further.
These photos are showing for the first time the AMG version of the new CL in cold weather testing. The prototype is featuring a different front end, and – according to the cover on the dashboard – also a sportier look of the ****pit.
The new standard CL is expected to come to the showrooms in December 2006, but the AMG version will be due in spring 2007 only in a small production line. It will carry an additional “63 AMG” nameplate on the boot lid.
The car will be furthermore equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission, ceramic brakes and additional air intakes in the front skirt.
Just like in the BMW M series, the Mercedes AMG models can be recognized from the four big exhaust pipes and huge brake disks."
whats with those exhaust tips?

Intersting, I could be wrong but I don`t believe the CL63 will debut with just
510hp (same as the ML63) V8. The S, SL and CL models have always had more hp and torque than the lower class models. (Maby MB changed there minds this time.)

I know what your talking about with the 5.5liter units but I read an article
about a twin-turbo 6.0liter DOHC V8 (thats based on the 6.3liter unit.)
MB says the angle of the cylinder bank was modified to accommodate the turbo chargers.
This Bi-Turbo V8 thay say will be found in the future (2008-09) SLR models
that will develope some 700hp for the SLR, rumer has it that this unit will be detuned to develope some 575hp for the S, SL and CL63 models.
If I find that article I`ll post a link to it.
Thay were just rumers though, could be all wrong.

Yes, according to the AMG website, they're adding the 6.0L Biturbo V12 to the lineup (and dropping the 6.5L). Looks to be the close to the same HP though @ 612.

Rumer has it that an S, CL and SL69 AMG is in the wings to replace the
currant 5.9liter Bi-Turbo V12 in the S, CL and SL65 models.
This all new multi valve 6.8liter Bi-Turbo V12 is said to develope an estimated
707hp for the 69 AMG models Thats awesome!!!

Definitely just prototypes. They don't dress up the test mules.
Those are some skinny snow tires on there.
For some reason, the rear 1/4's remind me of the CLS. Just the angle of the slope and the corner of the rear window.
