Unable to dyno '05 CL65 AMG
I went to get a dyno on my stock CL65 today, rear-wheel DynoJet. The car cut power at ~25MPH with slip flashing. Even with ESP off, the light would still flash ~20MPH and power would retard. It's my understanding that the ESP disable only disables portions of the system. I didn't want to pull the ESP fuse. Is there a way to dyno these cars safely?

1. Turn key on with engine off
2. press R button 3 times
3. Scroll thru the menu screen with the buttons on the steering wheel and you will see an option for dynamometer test.
4. Use the + and - to scroll to the dynamometer test mode.

Did you have it in dyno mode? I took my sl65 in today and we ran it fine but couldnt find a lead so I have no clue on my lbft. We tried for like two hours and couldnt get a good rpm feed anywhere? Where did they plug into yours? We did get hp on my car but I want to know lbft as well.

[QUOTE=blackbenzz;1762945]You're definitely not stock...... right?[/QUOTE
Bone stock just picked the car up Friday. I wanted to get a baseline before Kleemann works on it. I just need to get that damn lead for rpms so we can lbft as well. I have read some postings from guys in the UK putting down about the same power. I am guessing the car has 660hp at the crank, one guy says 20% loss so that is 690hp which I think is to high?

Thats what I thought too. Trust me I was hoping for 480-520rwhp since that is what I have seen on most dynos for the 65's. I can only imagine the lbft? I am guessing may 650lbft? I need to find out where to hook up so I can test it out. I cant wait to see what it does after the tune??

Dnyo mode...geez, didn't know about that. Is it in the manual, if so I didn't see? Regarding the RPM, we put tape on the upper pulley and used a strobe. Thanks to all for the help...back there tomorrow and I'll post my numbers.

As promised, the dynos for the '05 CL65, rear wheel on a DynoJet 224x. BiTurboAMG, will try to shoot a pic of the pulley tomorrow, but it's just the uppermost pulley, black and right/center/top of the motor. Just use reflective tape with an optical p/u. (PS is there a way to upload images to mbworld?)

Your RPM scale looks off, as the redline on the CL65's motor is below 6000 rpm. I suspect the pulley you chose is spinning about 10% faster than the crank. Great numbers, though. I'll be getting mine dyno'd soon, and will post results.
