Exclamation Just got off the phone with Kleeman in Colorado (610h.p. 2003 CL55!!!!)

Ok, well I just got off the phone with Kleeman Headquarters in Colorado Springs. I asked him about upgrading my 2003 CL55 that will be arriving in a few short months and if they were planning any upgrades for the car. Well, they are. Replacing the whole supercharger unit and he says they have a prototype on a SL55 in Denmark right now that has 610h.p.!!! He told me Mercedes' supercharger is very inefficient and the engine is very capable of more power without any risk of harming it.

How much is still being determined. Its going to be arriving in January though.

What did they say the cost would be? RennTech wants $25K and only gets it to 575HP.

He said the cost is still being determined. However, I dont think it will be nearly as costly as Renntech's upgrade. We'll just have to wait and see.....

Im sure Renntech will be really upset when Kleeman's upgrade is over 10k less and produces an additional 35h.p. over their system.

Upgrading the turbo's, intercoolers, fuel...........wow, the possibilities are seriously endless. Aftermarket companies are going to have fun with the 600.

Xanoth,

How did the aftermarket company of Hennessey manage to get almost near perfect traction on a 800h.p. twin turbo viper???? Ran a quarter mile of 9.99s as tested in Motor Trend!!! The viper is rear-wheel drive too. Everyone assumes that just because there is alot of power, the tires will break loose, but it depends on several factors. One is the tires (pressure, traction). Im not saying that the Mercedes with this much power wont break loose, however, I do believe it can grab the ground with a lot trial and error.

Maybe I'll have to start the trial and erroring myself when this thing arrives.....

I believe that the Hennessey Viper is running 345s in the rear... what's the cl 600 capable of?... i doubt 345s....

but yes.. if you QUAD turbo a cl600 with HKS and run it with FCON V controller... and get a straight flow exhaust and everything else that those 1000hp skylines have... you should be able to get 'round 1800-2000 hp... you would just also have to change the block for that kinda pressure....

2003 CL55
I had a recent email exchange with a Renntech rep and my recollection is that he told me that the upgrade that I had inquired about was about $5000 installed and produced 525 bhp. I don't recall the torque #. He said that throttle response ws better and that it shoud shave a tenth off 0-60 times for the CL. I think that a tenth is about a car length at 60, so not a lot of gain there, but if the power across the curve is better the upgrade may be worth the price. The upgrade involves a new ecu and pulley/drivebelt for the supercharger. I don't recall the prices or approx. specs for the bigger power upgrades. The transmission/drivetrain can likley handle quite a bit more torque, given the 600's rating. My concern is that the relatively puny 9 inch rear rims and the 265's just won't handle even the stock bhp as well as they should. The car should have at least 10 inch wheels on the rear with 285's or so.

I agree. Thats one of the first modifications I will make to the car. Get some 10's in the back with wider tires. The stocks definitely aren't going to cut it on this thing.

From the June 2001 Motor Trend, p. 78: "Hennessey's engineers... swapped on a set of sticky Mickey Thompson E.T. Street 26x11.5-16 street-legal 'cheater slicks.' Back out on the dragstrip, the soft-rubbered Venom 800 could now handle 5400-rpm launches, which generated just a light screech of the tires."

This tire switch helped drop the Hennessey 1/4 mile time to 9.99 at 138.95, versus 10.71 at 137.6 mph on stock radial tires.

With the slicks on, the car was 0-60 mph in 2.43 seconds. With stock radials, 0-60 was 3.21.

Ohh man Fast Eddy. Your stupidity is relentless. Those cars are driven mostly by my dad, so he doesn't really care about modificiations. This CL55 will be mine, so that is why I am upgrading the rims/tires. If you are ever in the California area, please call me up, id love to meet you. It would be an honor to meet the first human boner in existence.

I'm sorry. The whole cute, little *** smart mobile of yours with really "fat ***" wheels confused me. Get a life buddy. Grow up and don't criticize or be jealous, be content with what you have.
